Kozelek: That works just fine, but his combo clearly states that he targets the Teneb, the Harvester for the reanimation.

You are right. Target any other dragon in your grave.

Long_Con says... #4

You just have to activate Scion 3 times, and leave the last dragon in the graveyard.

I really like the combos you have in this. +1 from me.

Scourge of the Throne, Utvara Hellkite, Tyrant's Familiar are three great dragons you could put in the deck.

Tyrant's Familiar is a great haste option that also kills some creature... maybe a commander.

Scourge of the Throne is an easy way to punch someone in the gonads twice... you know make sure you hit both of 'em.

Utvara Hellkite is really cool if you can also have a way to gain a second attack phase, that generates a TON of HUGE dragons for you. though this card make more sense in my scion deck then in yours.

Temur Ascendancy can be a good option.

I run my Scion deck very differently though. it is much more re-animator then yours. from it I would recommend to you playing Living Death and Rise of the Dark Realms those are a real kick in the head after you've filled your deck with fatties esp. if one of those fatties is Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund. it's like a dragon blanket party... "Surprise!"

things you might want to take out:

All Is Dust I don't really get this one in the deck. maybe I am missing something.

Obzedat's Aid little pricy CMC for what it does. if you are really wanting spot re-animation the Hymn of Rebirth is about the same thing. from back in the day.

Echoing Truth is kinda "Meh" unless there is a really strong reason for it. maybe it combos with Sneak Attack? Cloudshift would be a better fit there then.

Any planeswalker IMO just going to die before they can do any good (in multiplayer games). So you really have to consider that when you put them in a EDH deck.

My Scion deck is more based off of a Living End deck. check it out to see what other ideas you might get Scion's Living End . I know I stole a few ideas from you. thanks by the way :)

Oh, also Insidious Dreams lets you drop a couple fatties out of your hand and then tutor up some reanimation (or other cool stuff).

Necromancy, Dance of the Dead and Animate Dead might be better options then some of the 5 drops you're running now.

Zer0w: Wow, thank you for all the suggestions!

Scourge of the Throne, Utvara Hellkite, and Tyrant's Familiar are all great suggestions. I'll see if I can work something out.

Temur Ascendancy is perfect! I was planning on taking out the Signets for cards such as Birds of Paradise and other mana dorks.

If I were to convert my deck over to a reanimator deck, I'd definitely run Insidious Dreams. Same thing goes for all the reanimating enchantments you suggested. This deck actually used to be a Living Death/ reanimator type deck. However, I found it too slow. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

And now I'll address some of the cards you think I should take out. After my reasoning, if you feel as though I should still take them out, I'll consider it:

All Is Dust is my way of getting rid of Avacyn and other indestructible creatures. My play group runs a lot of indestructible and it's nice to have a way to force them to sacrifice them.

Obzedat's Aid gets more than just creatures. It can also recover my combo pieces if something were to happen to them, or even a planeswalker if I need their effect again.

Echoing Truth is nicknamed "Token Destroyer'' in my play group. This card is a godsend against all those damn tokens.

There's no stealing ideas on here lol. Only sharing. I'm glad I could help you out with your deck as well.

Not sure if anyone's said this before, but in my experience as a Scion player, you need more dragons. I love all the combos, but it's better to have a win con for every dragon.

I suggest not as many of the signets, and more of the dragons. Trust me, if your mana is fixed right, you won't need the signets. I play against a Riku deck often, and in my experience, Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund, goes a long way. In addition to getting any stolen dragons back, it also gives dragons haste. YAY!

Don't see Crucible of Fire. I consider this a huge problem. Skithiryx can use Crucible to push to victory often.

Finally, I'd run all five of the "stars". Yosei and Keiga are great, but Kokusho by far outshines them in EDH, as usually you play against multiple people. In fact, he' s banned as being your commander!

Hope this helps!-ThePlaytester

ThePlaytester: Hey man, thank you for all the input!

I use the Signets not to fix my mana, but more for mana acceleration. I was thinking about replacing the signets with a few mana dorks such as Birds of Paradise. But definitely, it would open up some space for more dragons.

Crucible of Fire is definitely a possibility. It's always been a spacial issue. If I had the space, it'd definitely be in. The same goes for the Star Dragons. I like them all except Jugan, I just don't have the space for them all, so I picked the two that helped me most against my play group.

You've been a great help. I appreciate the input. Thank you very much!

I know the one guy went through a long winded explanation for supposedly how the combo with Sion would work. However, I did look up the ruling on that card and if I could get it to copy and post it here I would but I'm on my phone. The second ruling as of 2006 clearly states that sion loses his copy ability for the rest of the turn.

January 2, 2015 1:14 p.m.

deckdabbleer: The combo works, as long as you put Scion's ability twice on the stack. Regardless of Scion of the Ur-Dragon losing the ability once it transforms, due to the stack, both triggers have to resolve. This allows you to become two different dragons during a single turn.

A friend of mine runs a deck very similar to this, and with the same commander. From seeing his deck perform, I can say that Quicksilver Amulet is a great way to cheat in creatures that would normally cost extreme amounts of mana to cast. Since Scion of the Ur-Dragon causes you to discard the dragons you make him into, running Sheoldred, Whispering One is an excellent way to get them back, and it also works to keep most opponents under control. Also, since Scion of the Ur-Dragon loses his own ability when he becomes a copy of another creature, he can only copy one dragon per turn.

Kozelek says... #16

See what I mean? If you ask 10 ppl if the combo works 5 will say it does and 5 will say it don't and all 10 ppl will be willing to go to blows to defend their resons for why they say it does/doesn't and scion don't need it to win so I don't run molten-skittles combo in mine A Dragon by any other name and have NEVER lost a single game yet. Just saying

Putting Scion's ability on the stack twice at once is something I hadn't considered, but, as a judge, I can confirm that it would work both times if you did it as such.

January 5, 2015 2:36 p.m.

bananascheme: Thanks for your suggestions!

Quicksilver Amulet is a bit too slow in my deck. Running less that 20 creatures doesn't help either. It is usually just a dead card on the field. I already run a Sneak Attack, but that's on the verge of coming out as well.

Sheoldred, Whispering One is a great card. I might make room to try it out.

As long as I put Scion of the Ur-Dragon's Trigger on the stack twice at once, the stack forces Scion to become both dragons that turn. The stack uses a "First in, Last out'', so the first dragon will only be around while Scion's 2nd trigger resolves.

January 5, 2015 2:49 p.m.

Kozelek: I'm more than happy to explain each time to people who don't believe that the combo works. I'm not going to take it out. Just because people think that the combo doesn't work, doesn't make it so.

January 5, 2015 2:52 p.m.

Kozelek says... #20

True I'm just not that patient enough to keep explaining it and like I said scion don't need it so I took it out, I'm not saying you should just that it's not worth it to me that's all

Sheoldred, Whispering One is a great card... however, she also comes with a sign hanging around her neck that says:

"please gang up to beat my controller to a bloody pulp as fast you can so you no longer have to put up with my shenanigans, thank you"

Thus, I took her out of my Scion deck.

Boy! Some really exciting dragon support from Fate Reforged!

An automatic include for this deck is Crux of Fate

Check out Atarka, World Render, Ojutai, Winter's Soul, Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury, Silumgar, the Drifting Death

Of these, Atarka and Silumgar are the most useful for Scion's ability

Check out Wardscale Dragon for a Silence effect during combat

Destructor Dragon for a woodfall primus dragon

Needs a Nature's Will

illumfolly: I know, right! So much good stuff from this set. I have almost all of it on preorder.

I've never seen Nature's Will before! Why is this card not in my life?!!!!!!!!!!! It's on my "Need to Get Immediately" List.

Thanks for the comment!
