"I could have gone combo or control, but I decided to go for the crazy instead." Haha awesome quote!

So how are you liking EDH so far? Scion of the Ur-Dragon was on my short list of generals to build around. I did Savra, I Hardly Knew Ya first, while I trade for some more dragons... Scion is great because you can use all colors in the deck. And -mtg-card:-hellkite-overlord is AWESOME.

I see you are loving [[card:Disaster Radius...and nice work using Hex , and I love it's flavor text :)

does Realms Uncharted really work? Wouldn't the opponent just let you have the lands you don't need?

Well, just like how I learned to play with Gifts Ungiven , the key is to set up a situation where you always get what you want.

If you need to fix, one good way to do it is to go find either 4 fetch lands or 4 shock duals (or a combination of such).

If you're looking for a specific card because of its abilities, always have in mind another one you wouldn't be sad to get in its place. Then, add Petrified Field and something else powerful enough that an opponent should be reluctant to give it to you, like maybe Thawing Glaciers or Maze of Ith . You're going to get something good, regardless.

Yeah I guess that's a good strategy, because with 100 cards, chances are you wouldn't draw the Maze of Ith anyway...

i guess Kaalia of the Vast should also probably be found a spot and i think that other than think card and some mana fixers (like birds of paradise, weathered wayfarer ect. ) all you dudes should be gravediggers or dragons

For several months, this deck has been half taken apart because it was actually borrowing many cards from existing casual decks. I just finished the last in a long series of updates to make it completely stand-alone, and I look forward to finally playing it again.

It looks pretty solid, but you should definitely have Moltensteel Dragon for scion, check out my deck:moltensteel-scion deck and read the combo in the description. Even EDH has competitive general strategies!

I find that the land i use in my Horde of Notions deck works brilliantly so you may want to borrow that land base mate. ALWAYS tutor for Primeval Titan and play him that will truly fix the mana base lol especially if he has haste :-) Elvish Piper and Quicksilver Amulet should surely be here? and surely you need some Wrath of God for early game?

That's a pretty cool combo. Unfortunately, since I only play EDH in games of 3+ players, trying to come out of the gate with that will leave me pretty well screwed. However, it could be a useful "finish the game" button for killing the last opponent still alive, so I'll put it in the Maybeboard and think about how to get it in the next time I have an opportunity to sit down and tweak the deck.

The previous comment was directed @KorApprentice.

@maiden77: That base is a bit heavier on Green than what I need, but I see what you're saying. Actually, my plan is to rebuild the land base using Duals and Fetches, as I've been collecting them slowly over the past year. Another thing I'm thinking of is to add more fast artifact mana, so effects like the Piper and Amulet won't really be necessary. I agree about adding Wrath effects though. Right now the only effects I have only sort of do that (Disaster Radius , Living Death , Comet Storm , Void ), so some straight-up "everyone dies" would probably help a lot.

Yeah, it doesn't work very well in multiplayer. That's why I have some broken combo's in my EDH deck, like Isochron Scepter + card:Orim's Chant and CounterTop. You should also consider Hinder and Spell Crumple as they lock your opponents general away in their library.

You play it way different, but I really like it! Nice +1! Thanks for your comment, I'll playtest it. Scion was my first EDH, too

This deck (with a slightly older list) is today's CMDR Decks feature.

Not a dragon, but Sheoldred, Whispering One combos really well with Ur in my opinion.

She definitely does. If I can track down another copy, I might use her to replace card:Debtors' Knell.

I would also suggest the "star" dragons from kamigawa.

The #1 reason I'm not including any of them is that they don't work with the Commander's abilities, and I would rather all my dragons be able to synergize with him in some way. For example, this is also the reason I ended up removing Bogardan Hellkite in a previous update.

someone tries to kill Scion, well, now it's koshuko. also quicksilver dragon is great

If I choose to use the "go to Command zone'' replacement effect for Scion, the "dies" ability of any Star Dragon he changes into won't trigger, because he didn't actually go to the graveyard. I'd much rather put him in the Command zone and play him again rather than let him go to the graveyard.
