Deck has been working well, but I'm still working on the sideboard. I am also considering whether a Naya version (Naya Scoutin') would work better. Basic theory is enchant either a hexproof or heroic creature, then swing away. Crushes Aggro, does well against most Midrange, needs help with Control (but that is what the sideboard is for).
Creatures
Gladecover Scout
: One of the two workhorses of the deck. While not as explosive as
Favored Hoplite
, the innate hexproof allows me to load up on enchantments without worrying about targeted removal.
Favored Hoplite
: The other workhorse of the deck. In conjunction with enough Ethereal Armors and Ajani, Caller of the Pride, can be a turn three win. Vulnerable to removal, but can grow very large very fast.
Hero of Iroas
: A very nice addition from BNG. While still vulnerable to removal, he allows for auras to be dropped very quickly, boosting him rapidly.
Witchstalker: A little slow, but a reliable workhorse that requires sacs or boardwipes to deal with.
Enchantments
Ethereal Armor: The main reason this deck works. First strike and +1/+1 for each aura stacks up into an unbeatable in combat creature rapidly.
Aqueous Form: This little beauty is the reason I made this Bant. Early game it gets in damage and smooths out my draws, late game it is a finisher when all your blockers suddenly became useless.
Alpha Authority: With half the creatures lacking natural hexproof, I feel this is a necessity. However, I am considering switching them with the Loxodon Smiters in the sideboard to have more creatures mainboard.
Ordeal of Thassa
: My card draw engine, but also arguably the weakest of my auras. Hoping something good comes in to replace it in JOU.
Unflinching Courage: This is what allows me to outlast aggro and trample over midrange. A very powerful card.
Gift of Orzhova
: Mainly a supplement to Unflinching Courage, but decent in its own right. Also, allows me to deal with flying, which can be difficult otherwise.
Eidolon of Countless Battles
: Yes, this is technically a creature, but since I almost always bestow it, it doesn't feel that way. More of a backup for Ethereal Armor, but useful if you can't draw any creatures.
Planeswalker
Ajani, Caller of the Pride: The -3 is a great finisher, the +1 is ok, but I never seem to get the -8 off. Not sure if this card is worth it, and I hope the new Ajani is even better.
Sideboard
Aegis of the Gods: Oh, you wanted me to sac something? Well, too bad.
Spell Rupture
: Defense against removal and other troublesome spells. Spell Rupture is currently being tested, may be removed for something in the maybeboard.
Loxodon Smiter: An anti-control staple. May move into the mainboard.
Ajani's Presence
:
Supreme Verdict
may be uncounterable, but if one heavily enchanted creature survives, that may not matter.
Please don't suggest anything over 4 mana. This is an aggro deck and I rarely get to 5 mana, and sometimes not even 4. Things that consistently require more than 4 mana usually end up in my hand, useless.
