honestly i realy like it, i havent seen to many bant hexproof builds yet in theros block!

only comment i'd have is that Hopeful Eidolon is good b/c it adds an enchantment but many of your enchantments add lifelink. Maybe 2 Boon Satyr s would work or you. especially since they will flash in

Nice deck, honestly really well thought out, I don't often see decks that I don't immediately see suggestions to improve it. +1 from me and added to my folder of decks to watch. (BTW don't take out Fleecemane Lion , it soaks removal like a sponge and if you get its monstrous off it will win you the game every time)

The deck needs more focus. Right now it's a gimped hexproof with some disruption because disruption is fun. I see that you're trying to mete out the best of the 3 colors, but maybe using cards like Warriors' Lesson or even Gods Willing would make the evasion and bypass much better. I don't see how protection spells wouldn't serve your purpose better with the prevalence of spells like Supreme Verdict , Detention Sphere . Protection from color is more than enough to shield from indirect, not to mention smoothing out the deck without giving too much color disruption.

With Ajani as a win-con I can see why you would want spell rupture instead, but do consider Gods Willing in place of Gift of Orzhova or even some of the lands. I won't worry too much about mana fixing. Your winners are green, so no need for the 4x Hallowed Fountain . Go 4x Plains if you're really worried, but Unknown Shores or Evolving Wilds would ease your worries with more versatility.

Whoops, got confused with the rulings for protection. Regeneration is a cheaper option to stop destroy effects that are indirect. Protection still saves you from damage spells though.

Deck placed fourth last night at its first ever Standard event (and my first with a deck that wasn't casual), so yay!

@xzavierx Thanks! I've looked at the Satyr, but I don't think it fits well in this deck. I rarely leave enough mana open for its flash ability to be worth it, and the bestow cost is just a little too high for how many lands I have.

@jias3333 Thanks a lot for the +1!

@Freakofnatur Could you be more specific on the focus part. I don't really feel like this is a gimped deck. I haven't really found that I run out of cards too often, so I don't feel like Warrior's Lesson is relevant. Given that the only major threat that Gods Willing stops for me is Anger of the Gods, I don't think it is worth it. And I was less worried about color consistency than running 22 lands. Regeneration is a good idea though, I may add some Mending Touch s to the sideboard.

I know you don't think Boon Satyr fits well but if you are hit with a Supreme Verdict you lose your entire board presence and a lot of enchantments. Boon Satyr ensures that you still have creatures on the board if you cast him as an enchantment.

The three major issues I see with bestowing a Boon Satyr are 1) I often don't get 5 mana until turn 7-8 (at least in playtests), so it would be difficult to cast it for its bestow cost often enough 2) Supreme Verdict can go off a turn earlier than I can bestow Boon Satyr and 3) bestowing a Boon Satyr costs the same as making a Fleecemane Lion monstrous, which I feel leaves me in a better boardstate against a Supreme Verdict.

Nice deck. My only suggestion would really be that I'd remove Ordeal of Thassa in favor of Ordeal of Heliod . I just feel like 10 life is a much nicer result than just a 2 card draw. Personal opinion though, and the deck still earns a +1.

If you've got a minute, would you mind looking over the deck I'm currently working on? Haters Gonna Hate (G/W Aggro/Color Hate)

Hey, I noticed that you are a little light on white mana. It caused me a couple issues with playing cards some games, maybe you'd want to change that. Also, you may want to consider Loxodon Smiter , It's a great card. Still, a great deck.

raithe000 says... #10

@TheMaskSmiles I find Ordeal of Thassa is more useful in longer games. I'm have enough lifelink effects that 10 life is less useful than you would think.

!natemacfad I'll probably switch out at least 1 of the Temple of Mystery when we get the full set of Temples, but for now the scry is worth it. Loxodon Smiter will replace Battlewise Hoplite in the sideboard as soon as I can pick some up.

Negate is a card I would consider playing since this deck is still vulnerable to spells that make you sac (something that's moderately common in my area). Alpha Authority is also something to consider as it stops you from clump blocked by 3 or 4 creatures if you don't have Aqueous Form as well as providing hexproof for the Hopeful Eidolon if it ends up as a creature or for the Battlewise Hoplite post sideboard.

I quite like this deck! +1Would you think two bigger creatures could fit here though? Such as Archangel of Thune ?And why not Voice of Resurgence ? Just wondering, as I'm not experienced with this kind of deck.

November 3, 2013 9:18 a.m.

raithe000 says... #14

@Magnvs This deck is closer to Aggro than Midrange, so I dislike running anything more than a three drop. I might start looking for 4 drops if I continue to have a hard time with Ramp decks, but Archangel of Thune is definitely just too late-game for this build. Voice of Resurgence is trickier to explain, but besides the expense, I just don't feel it does enough in the deck. It only has pseudo-hexproof, so I'm not entirely comfortable suiting it up with auras, and the token it makes is almost never going to be bigger than a 3/3 base in this deck. If I were running more creatures, I'd consider it, but as it stands, it just isn't worth it at its price point.

Nice deck raithe000

I'm keen on Selesnya Charm these days because it is one of the ways to deal with the gods. Do you run into them much at your LGS, perhaps in mono blue?

November 4, 2013 11:38 a.m.

raithe000 says... #17

@Agog I haven't actually run into the Gods, honestly. Like the description says, they are mainly there because Polis Crusher is horrible for me.

Yananas says... #18

What about Boon Satyr ? A great card, surprise blocker, semi-haste if you play it EoT, or surprise buff in the later game.

Also, a bit keen on removal, but Fabled Hero will get very big, very fast in a deck like this.

I have a similar build, check it out: Bant Auras, Theros Style.

What is the T3 win?

November 5, 2013 7:56 p.m.

raithe000 says... #20

@Yananas I'm not sure Boon Satyr is worth it in the deck. I'm just wary of including too many non-hexproof cards, and I find that 5 mana is often hard to come by in this deck. I've seen the recommendation a lot, so I may test it out, but currently it doesn't really fit well with me.

Fabled Hero, on the other hand, may take the place of the Loxodon Smiters in the sideboard. I've been trying to find good 3-4 drops for going against midrange, and that seems like a good card for that. I'll definitely try that out.

@Matsi883
T1: White mana land, Hopeful Eidolon
T2: White mana land, 2x Ethereal Armor on Hopeful Eidolon, swing 7
T3: Any color land, Ajani, Caller of the Pride , use Ajani's -3 on hopeful eidolon, swing 7 doublestrike

It's not consistent and is very risky if they have any removal, but it is possible.

I abandoned my standard hexproof project - Theros Hexproof Lifegain - because there are so many cards you have to fear with this plan. Thoughtseize , Devour Flesh , Supreme Verdict just to name a few. I see you have Mending Touch in the s/b for the verdicts, but, man this deck seems like it's got some pretty serious weaknesses against a ton of the current standard meta.

Anyway, +1 for trying (I love hexproof in modern) and check out my deck. There may be a few cards in there you hadn't thought of using.

Having 2 Ethereal Armor s on Hopeful Eidolon each give it +6/+6, making it a 13/13. Enchantment creatures still count toward the Armors' buffs when they're creatures and the Armors count themselves. with no blockers, you can get a lethal swing on T3 without Ajani.

ljs54321 says... #23

Ignore my last comment. For some reason I was thinking +2/+2 per enchantment for Ethereal Armor . Long days are not good for trying to think lol

Nice deck +1

Your local meta will always influence your side board, because of mine I would run Fade into Antiquity over Naturalize because it allows you to get rid of those pesky gods.

Also if you ever want to run other creatures you could always use Alpha Authority to make them hexproof.
