Sideboard

Instant (4)

Sorcery (4)

This deck is a fun deck built around scry, and creatures that take advantage of scrying as often as possible. The main purpose is to pull off as many cool tricks as possible before the end of the game. Actual competitiveness is a second priority.

Major cards:- Aqueous Form + Flamespeaker Adept is the main win condition. It's pretty easy to buff Flamespeaker up to a 10/3 or more before attacking.- Aqueous Form also pairs well with Conundrum Sphinx, to take the randomness out of its ability.- Cryptic Annelid exists in this deck primarily to buff Flamespeaker, or move through the deck in a pinch.

I'm really happy that Scry is now evergreen, because I intend to continually update this deck with new cards. The current scry pool is relatively low at the time being. If I end up getting enough cards expect this to become a Commander deck.

I'd love to hear suggestions about other "top card of the deck matters" cards to add to the deck. (After all, scrying for its own sake is a little boring) I'm thinking of tossing in some Miracle cards like Temporal Mastery or Reforge the Soul to see if I can take advantage of that mechanic.

When first designing this deck, I justified running 68 cards because I could simply scry through the extra cards. Having played the deck for a while however I've come to realize that a) this was a bad idea and b) there are definitely cards that I can take out/replace.

  • Bolt of Keranos is going to be replaced with Scouring Sands. Sands is cheaper; additionally, Bolt of Keranos is redundant in purpose with Magma Jet, while Sands will give the opportunity for board clears.

  • Voyage's End is going to be removed altogether. It's not very useful except when big fatties are involved, and Flamespeaker Adept has shown herself to be fairly good at removing these in a pinch. I'll keep End in as a sideboard option.

  • Arbiter of the Ideal is going to be removed; it's too expensive to really use, and I find that I hardly ever get a chance to use it's ability.

  • 2 Sigiled Skinks are going to come out, as I find I hardly ever use them for their scry ability. I'll consider adding Sigiled Starfish if I need more 2 drops. Long term I plan to replace the remaining 2 skinks with Reforge the Soul.
