you should try splashing Green for Life from the Loam, allows you to deal 10 damage in a turn and draw a card (Pitch 3 lands, 2 triggers targeting wherever and 1 to the Swans of Bryn Argoll, draw 1 card and dredge for Life from the Loam then pitch 3 lands again)

slappy bob, maybe if you play against a lot of storm? Yo board in counterflux vs blue midrange/ control decks where mindbreak trap is not good.

Might suggest more remand than rune snag. I would go with more remand and some Mana Leaks over 1 remand and 4 snags

Very cool use of Seismic Assault, if your looking for instant speed, or something less color intensive Lightning Storm might be an option. If your trying to be dramatic Shivan Meteor, but it's woefully slow.

What About Volcano Hellion and Simian Spirit Guide for a Spectacular Combo turn 4-5?? Seems quite legit. Deal enought damage to the swans to draw your Whole deck... then Exile the Apes, cast Seismic Assault and Win the game :D and if you somehow can't... cast the Laboratory Maniac :D

electromancer: I like the idea of Lightning Storm. I did actually try it out in a previous iteration of the deck. I found that I like Seismic Assault better, as you can use it over time.

DHWorlds: yeah, Simian Spirit Guide seems like a good card here. Volcano Hellion seems interesting. Could potentially draw 19 cards if I go to 1 life. I'll have to try it out :)

I see Lightning Storm show up a lot in Seismic Assault decks or suggested for use in them. But I do not think people understand that the caster only gets to put counters on it one time. Then they have to pass priority to your opponent. If your opponent does not put counters on it, the spell will resolve before you get priority back. And 3 mana for 5 damage is not as efficient as just putting 4x more lands into the deck.

MagicMarc, I think you are right about people missing that particular interaction. If I play Lightning Storm I would have to take a gamble as to how many lands I think my opponent has in hand. IE. if I have 5 lands, and discard 4 in one go, and he has 2 lands then he ends up choosing the target for the spell. Lightning Storm works exactly how you want it to in a deck like Ad Nauseam. But in this deck I personally like the versatility that Seismic Assault provides. I can shoot all kinds of stuff for 2 at a time, and those shots can't be countered (except with Trickbind). And I still get one turn kill with Seismic Assault + Swans of Bryn Argoll + 2x Dakmor Salvage.

frydog, thanks for the suggestion. I'm guessing the idea is that I can shoot the Swans for infinite card draw. Unfortunately the card is not legal in Modern :/ But it's a cool interaction, I could try it out in a Legacy version of the deck :)

im sorry, but I can't stand the fact, that you don't use Swan Song even if it's not that great... It has to be in there, at least for sideboard :P

You need a playset of chain lightning and one copy oflaboratory maniac. Remove anger of the gods, or at least sideboard it.

Chain Lightning isn't modern legal, and Laboratory Maniac Doesn't do much in the deck. Anger of the Gods is a soft-wrath, draws three cards, and basically does a lot.

O, thought it was modern legal. Sorry. Another combo you could try is playset of black lotus, playset of jace the mind sculptor, playset of Liliana of the veil, and playset of charging badger combo goes: Play all four black lotus, dump out hand, aggro with badger, win. Badger has a misprint on its power/ toughness. They are infinite. If you read it's flavor text, it implies it has all abilities. Also should run some tolarian academy to make this a vintage mono blue affinity deck. Might want melira pod and splinter twin combo in here as well, just for some spicyness. In all seriousness though, maybe molten vortex or another electrolyze? And could you explain why spell snare? I get that it catches tarmogoof, but it's so specific.
