Cool deck idea!

Is the card "decent of the dragons" any good for turning animated lands straight into dragons and triggering Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper?

March 27, 2017 5:42 p.m.

Abres_Tenelles Whoa! I've not seen Descent of the Dragons, and it fits what I'm trying to do here PERFECTLY. As an added bonus, I can take out troublesome creatures my opponents control at the same time. Adding that to my next CardKingdom order for sure. Thanks for the comment!

Abres_Tenelles I thought about that card for another minute - and it's even BETTER than I thought. Descent of the Dragons sacs (essentially) my own creatures, AND creates it's own, so it's running double-duty on this deck, like an even better Emrakul's Evangel. WOOT!

Descent of the Dragons does work amazingly well in my Purphoros deck!

There might be a few more ideas for you in my Prossh sac deck too ;0)

vincilios I did have a Sakura-Tribe Elder in here, but it only fetches a single land. It was cut to make room for all the grab-2 ramp spells. I don't need the trigger for Sek'kuar, either - the animated lands are enough sac fuel.

Thank you for checking my deck out. I've built many Commander decks now, but this one is my favorite.

I have been furiously playtesting this deck ever since I've found it, I love the idea, but in my testing, The best cards I would add are The Gitrog Monster, Titania, Protector of Argoth, and more haste enablers, such as Emblem of the Warmind, and the insane draw engines in Fecundity and Elemental Bond. Honestly this deck is amazing, And surprisingly budget provided you cut a few 100$ cards

LeoSushi Thank you for the comment!

The original idea of the deck was to simply explode, and then win. That's why cards like Fecundity and Elemental Bond were cut...Grim Haruspex was in there too, for a while. Once I'm dropping a bunch of tokens and sac'ing my lands, I'm not concerned w/ having cards in hand. The 'backup plan' has changed since this deck was built, and those cards are definitely worth another look, since I might actually survive to another turn.

The Gitrog Monster was cut because at 5CMC, he's a little late to help w/ the ramping.

Titania, Protector of Argoth JUST got added - she was MADE for this deck.

I have been working haste enablers in, such as In the Web of War, Goblin Bushwhacker, and Ogre Battledriver. Anger was in there, but got cut at some point. I've been thinking about putting him back in.

And you're right - if you cut out the 5 most expensive cards, this drops to well under $200 very quickly. As it got better, I couldn't resist putting in a few gems.

VesuvanDoppelbanger, Another suggestion to help out the deck is to smooth out the curve on the 2 drop slot, cards I would suggest for that slot is Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist, Impact Tremors and Cryptolith Rite (as a backup plan). There have been troubles against hardcore token decks with chump blockers, so I added Khenra Charioteer as a trample outlet that's tutorable with all the creature tutors, and Grave Pact as well as Dictate of Erebos to clear the board. The other trouble is that this deck is a durtling ramp deck in jund with out very much to do with the mana, so I added Skullclamp (useful with Bitterblossom and Ophiomancer), Phyrexian Arena, and Necropotence as card draw, and the deck can use 'rattlesnake cards' such as Rumbling Crescendo, and Nevinyrral's Disk to discourage people messing with us.

oh yeah, and better ramp cards based on the high amounts of card draw, and high land count would be Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Burgeoning, and Exploration, and have contemplated using Heartbeat of Spring/Mana Flare but I'm not sure those are worth playing. Just some suggestions

Worm Harvest could potentially be a token creator, 5 mana is a lot though

May 26, 2017 4:25 p.m.

LeoSushi More awesome suggestions. A few of them will get included as I'm able to. I think the hardest part of fine tuning this deck, is that I've developed favorite cards over the course of having played the deck. I know that my 5 CMC curve is too high...I just need to make some tough calls.

Zulaport Cutthroat and Impact Tremors are going to go in. I like how they are almost a mini- Pandemonium, and have awesome synergy w/ Tooth and Claw and Emrakul's Evangel (sac em all, watch em burn!)

One of the things I kept in mind while building this was: Go off, then win or die. That let me free up space for more fuel by leaving out card draw and ramp that would only help after I've gone and sac'd my lands.

I kinda forgot about Necropotence - I've got that one laying around, and it'll probably go in as well, although the can be tough.

Found more cards! Squandered Resources is a 2 mana sac outlet, and gets plenty of mana for whatever you need mana for when going off, Breath of Fury will have lots of fodder, and locks in the win, Scapeshift checks the sac outlet box, as well as a backup, and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed is another backup plan, and, because I'm a terrible person, I would also suggest to run Triskelion and Walking Ballista if you choose to run mike. Zuran Orb is a 0 cost sac outlet which is surprisingly useful.

May 26, 2017 6:54 p.m.

Squandered Resources AAHHHHHH How did I miss that wonderful card?!? It's a budget Phyrexian Altar - which would also be great, but not dropping that $ for it - same for Scapeshift, which is a golden goose for this deck.

Zuran Orb is nice since it's free, but I'm not impressed by it's payout. Sylvan Safekeeper is kind of in that category as well, but if it saves my Commander or other token maker, it's worth it. Sadistic Hypnotist is an untested newcomer, still thinking about it.

Breath of Fury was considered. I'm not running much evasion (like the trample you mentioned earlier), so I always imagined whichever creature had it would be the one hitting the chump block.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed would be excellent. The walking pingers don't feel like they belong in this deck, but I can certainly appreciate the combo.

Dude, your suggestions are on point. Thank you for taking the time.

This deck just intrigued me so much, because of how off the wall it is, I have my own decklist of it here: Sek'kuar, combokeeper

oh damn, forgot scapeshift was 40$ well... that's getting cut

final suggestion; Demonic Consultation, A vampiric tutor to hand, and fits well with the go big or go home theme of the deck

AND I HAVE ONE. Hell yeah.

I'm trying to get into Discord on my tablet, but it's giving my grief. My user name there will be the same.

Love the deck, really want to build a Sek'Kuar deck, im too afraid to sac my lands though. Would Hellion Eruption work in this deck, the problem would then be giving them haste I guess.

June 7, 2017 4:59 p.m.

Ink-Fusion great suggestion! I think I need to double check rulings - does Sek'kuar trigger if he leave play w/ all the other critters?

June 7, 2017 6:05 p.m.

Ink-Fusion says... #24

Yes he will trigger as everything is sacrificed at the same time so he will see the other creatures dying.

Personally, In my playtesting, Harvest Season isn't very efficient in the deck
