Now this is my kind of deck!
A couple suggestions...
Pestilent Souleater does pretty much the same thing as your commander, as in let you drain your own life. It costs the same (but for no devotion), doesn't bounce itself after 1 use, and opens up a few artifact recursion options if people don't want it on the field. (there are other souleater cards from New Phyrexia that act similarly, but the white one, Blinding Souleater, isn't good. The red one, Immolating Souleater, however...)
Also, Axis of Mortality should definitely find its way in here.

It's been a long while since I've updated this deck. However, in all my new set scanning, I'd say that Axis of Mortality is the insane jank that this setup yearns for. Thank you for the updates, Rabid_Wombat and Suprek.
CynicalDog - I dig the idea behind Pestilent Souleater, I'll see if I can find a slot to test it with!
I've also considered toying with the following cards as recursion/removal/draw replacement:
- Cast Out - Banishing Light with cycle.
- Forsake the Worldly - Solid artifact/enchantment removal that is superior to Fate Forgotten.
- Painful Lesson - It's not Read the Bones, but there is potential.
- Restoration Specialist - 2 mana creature that can recur artifacts/enchantments, easy fit for this build.
If anyone has any additional thoughts regarding their own iterations of this deck, don't hesitate to provide your own suggestions.

how about an Unspeakable Symbol or a Souldrinker to get uneven life so you can win with Near-Death Experience + Selenia, Dark Angel

A suggestion for upgrade section, Beacon of Immortality, wonderful combo piece with Tainted Remedy.

Any plans to update this deck in 2018? I'm really loving the cheapness and uniqueness!

What do you think of Vona, Butcher of Magan as a commander instead? doesn't bounce to hand gives us some removal for the same coast AND it drains more life sounds pretty sweet to me.

Scykrai, the strength of Selenia is that you can use her ability in response to itself as many times as you like, letting you drop your life by any multiple of 2, typically twenty or more. In my experience (I ̵n͝e͟e͢d you̕r͝ li̧f҉e), she's mostly a combo piece, so the strengths that Vona brings to the table are less relevant to the kind of deck that Selenia encourages building. I don't think that Vona is a bad choice for a general in a deck broadly along these lines by any means, but Selenia works really fast to do the things that let this deck win. Plus she's evasive so if you want to play Hatred (which I recommend) it's funnier/easier.

I'm loving this deck. I have a few of the "upgrades" sitting around. What would you suggest trading out for Exquisite, Wound Reflection, Tree, Trisk, Sorin, Sol Ring and maybe a few others?

Hmm, the card did not link in the comment (maybe since Ixalan released pretty recently). Here's the tcg link for Axis of Mortality : http://shop.tcgplayer.com/magic/ixalan/axis-of-mortality
