I think I can make it work. —March 10, 2015
so previously, I thought that I had missed out on a big thing with Phalanx Leader, but I think I am gonna make it work. a few minor changes have been made which makes for some fun tricks in the early game.
removed cards
Abzan Beastmaster X 3 - it seemed to work mid game, but if it ended up being an early card, It tended to compete with other 3 and 2 drops which slowed me down more than sped me up.
Whisperer of the Wilds x 1 - honestly, Im just getting tired of seeing this card, and having 3 mana dorks on the field doesnt seem to be any faster than having 1 or 2
Feat of Resistance x 1 - this was a tough choice, and really it was a matter of whether I wanted 3 FOR, and 2 Solidarity of Heroes, or vise-versa, and I like the mechanics as it works with phalanx leader of solidarity of heroes a little better.
Citadel Siege X 1 - this was another tough one for me, but it seemed necessary. as a 4 drop, it is not necessarily late game, but its certainly not an early game card unless I happen to have a hand full of plains, forests, and elvish mystics, and then it is still a turn 3 at the earliest. as such, it seems that haveing 4 of them was a bit excessive in a deck that is being tailored to early/mid play. im still not 100% certain on this decision, so it may be comming back.
added cards
Phalanx Leader X 3 - so the removal of the previously listed cards was really in an effort to make phalanx leader a viable part of the deck, and in my opinion, for good reason. the Hardened Scales + Phalanx Leader + Solidarity of Heroes combo just looked too promising, since phalanx leader's heroic ability resolves before solidarity of heroes does. combine that with the fact that I could potentially strive the card to a second phalanx leader giving +4/+4 to all my critters, thats a nasty play to cast right after someone decides they are going to let 3 damage through.
solidarity of heores X 3 - it seemed stupid to not include this card in my deck, it being entirely about +1/+1 generation, and the card being strivable... there are just so many good tricks to be played with this.
all that being said, Im still fine tuning this, and have had a bit of a rough time getting the mana curve/supply just right. I would really appreciate any ideas.
