the search for the fleecemane replacement is over —March 15, 2015
so the past couple of weeks, I have been beating myself up over whether or not to include Fleecemane Lion in the deck. its value as a 2 drop 3/3 is not lost on me, I just find that the monstrous ability is simply too good to pass up in the context of my deck, but that it slows me down considerably and asside from it being a target for 1/1 counters, it doesnt really play off of anything in the deck particularly well. fortunately, I think I have found the solution to my problems in the DTK spoiler. it looks like Avatar of the Resolute will be on of the cards in the DTK pack, and it look perfect for this deck. while a 3/2 instead of a 3/3, reach and trample on a 2 drop 3/2 is just too damn good, especially in the case that Im up against a flying deck and cant seem to find an Abzan Falconer. better yet, if I dont get it in the opening hand, it builds up with my board state, getting a +1/+1 counter for each creature i control that already has a +1/+1 counter on it. so mid game, I could be looking at a 2 drop 8/7 with reach and trample... Its not even fair!!! I think this is the first time I have been legitimately excited about a specific card in a new set.
