Those who wage war against Selesnya risk a fall from starry heights
A midrange Selesnya that focuses on / creatures, with some kind of max budget (No Fetches, No Tarmos, etc).
Cards Choices
Sigarda, Host of Herons: Main wincon of the deck. Hexproof makes her very hard to remove without counters or board wipes.
Birds of Paradise: Multicolor ramp.
Fleecemane Lion
: Second wincon of the deck. It's already good without being monstrous, but making it both Indestructible and Hexproof is just great.
Loxodon Smiter: Overall great cost/efficency ratio. Counters both discard and contro strategies, and it's a great midrange creature.
Path to Exile: Best removal in the format. Nothing to do here.
Qasali Pridemage: It's , Exalted, and can destroy Enchs or Artifacts. Good guy.
Wilt-Leaf Liege: Just strong. Only playing 2 because of their high price. And all you want is an opponent that lets you discard a card of your choice by turn 1/2/3.
Vines of Vastwood: Need Hexproof? Get Hexproof! And +4+4, why not?
Rancor: Cheap and reusable. It always let you have some Trample and added power.
Hyena Umbra
: A cheap Aura that protects a creature and simplifies the restriction of Daybreak Coronet.
Pentarch Ward: I love this Aura. First of all, it makes you draw a card, which is already useful to replace it. Then, it gives protection from a single color which could mean many things, first of all being unblockable from the chosen color. A great way to protect an important creature and then play Daybreak Coronet after it.
Daybreak Coronet: Strong, synergizes well with the deck. Very easy to play thanks to Rancors.
Treetop Village
& Stirring Wildwood: Lands that can become creatures. Useful against board wipes.
Tectonic Edge: Destroys annoying lands such as Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in Swampwalk aggro decks or Academy Ruins in Affinity decks, Eye of Ugin, etc.
Sideboard Choices
Leyline of Sanctity: No discards, no sacrifices, no burns... just more Hexproof!
Wrath of God: Divine cleaning.
Spirit of the Labyrinth: I like to draw, but I don't like it when I can't do it better than my opponent does.
Privileged Position: I think if you read till here, you know I like Hexproof. Now you know I like it a lot.
Melira, Sylvok Outcast: Counters poison-based decks. Hexproof and Indestructibility from other cards can make her survive the removals of this kind of decks.
Pithing Needle: Counters so many Creatures, Artifacts and Planeswalkers that can fit any situation. Even to counter Ghost Quarter.
Elixir of Immortality: Mill decks without graveyard removals get completly outplayed with these.
Rest in Peace: Finds it use against endless abilities such as Delve, Persist, Undying, Flashback, Retrace, etc.. plus it avoids many other graveyard trigger effects, Snapcaster Mage, Tarmogoyf, etc.
Celestial Flare
: Kill the Voltron! This card is great when your opponent tries to kill you with a single, big creature, especially with Exalted ability. The only way to get around it is to play Sigarda, Host of Herons too or have Hexproof/Shroud with Leyline of Sanctity or
Ivory Mask
.
Maybeboard
Garruk Wildspeaker: Staps lands and Overrun. I always liked him in every deck with .
Ajani, Mentor of Heroes: Overall all his abilities are useful. Fits the deck and can grant you 100 life if you can keep it safe.
Gaddock Teeg: Stops many things without giving any problem to the deck. Just need to find the cards and their place in the deck.
Kor Spiritdancer
: Because Rancor. This guy can become very huge very quickly, and if a creature you control other than this one dies with Rancors enchanting it, you can play them again, draw more, and pump
Kor Spiritdancer
to become bigger.
