When you return either of those cards to your hand and recast it - it’s like a whole new creature and you get to use its activation another time. So you keep bouncing amd recasting and reusing

Thank you I recently just bought this deck since I wanted to play something that wasn’t stack based in commander. I really enjoy the deck and all the thought that you and your colleagues have put into I hope that you will release a mulligan guide shortly so that I can further get to know this deck. Thanks again.

There is a mulligan guide we just cant link it in the primer bc it doesnt accept outside links. You’ll have to copy and paste

was just wondering why you cut elvish pioneer. He was a part of a lot of mana combos and i couldnt seem to find a good reason to cut it

Hey bud, I have a very similar deck and I was just curious why don't you run Walking Ballista I read your process to winning a game and everything, just seems like a great card to have included. Feel free to check mine out and give me your feedback. Thanks.

dreamslayer19992 didn’t feel necessary is really all it is. Plus not being reliable ramp.

WhrThRdFrnGr0w5 inefficient removal and doesn’t get rid of your most important threats - totem and linvala. It’s fine as a wincon but the deck has a lot of wincons already and doesn’t need a dedicated piece imo.

Hi.

I've been working on making my selvala deck for about a year and a half. It was my first EDH deck. I must say this brew is devastating. I have never seen a deck be as explosive as this is. There is some turn one sevala play's and it is bananas to storm off turn two.

With that said I was wondering how some of the recent cards have measured up to the original list. Also.. I think that you should 1 or 2 green creatures that have a better loop wins. Because it sometimes you need a loop engine that works just off creatures and is not reliant on an artifact or instant/sorcery. I looked at as many creatures as I could.. I can't think of what is the best one... May elvish visionary as she works really well with a few different combos already present in the deck.

alexheyer thanks to selvala’s ability you can actually just draw your deck by bouncing and replaying a fattie. If you had an enormous creature before doing that (ie. Made infinite mana by bouncing and replaying great oak guardian or umbral mantle), you can use sabertooth to reset all the creaure’s power and toughness first. In the case of great oak guardian then you will need ewit and a way to kill the sabertooth (usually you can use phyrexian dreadnought - replay the dreadnought and sac sabertooth to the etb trigger). Then play ewit to get back your sabertooth.

I actually also went back to running Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip, so that gives another creature-based way to draw your deck.

Hi, Im avoiding Primal Command for the moment... I do remmember that the memory jar loop used to work without it; do you have the steps for that? Thanks!

astorlapapa After drawing your deck, play staff of domination and scroll rack. Cast autumns veil to prevent disruption. Tap scroll rack to put your hand back on top of your deck. Crack memory jar to draw 7. The only card you need to have on top when you scroll rack is nature’s claim.

Claim your scroll rack. Cast any other cards you can in your hand to dump it. An alternative is sacrificing birds of paradise to greater good to dump your hand, then rebuy the bird with sabertooth+ewit to do it again. You should have no cards in hand.

Then use sabertooth to flicker eternal witness to get back scroll rack and memory jar. Replay those.

Now draw your deck with staff of domination, and use sabertooth+ewit to get back the hand that you discarded earlier. Now you are back in the state you were in at step 1, but your opponent had their original hand in exile. So repeat this until you draw your opponents out.

Another way you can do this is with kozilek instead of ewit. Discard kozilek to survival of the fittest to shuffle your yard back into your library, then draw your deck again with staff. If you don’t have staff, you can loop pump spells and sac to greater good or loop a fatty for selvala draw triggers, etc.

Also if you don’t like scroll rack, you can use noxious revival+ewit loops to put cards back into your deck. Kozilek also works similarly to make sure your deck always has cards for memory jar.

Hey, quick question, is there any playline for Uncage the Menagerie worth mentioning?

The best I could find was starting mana: 27, and a 1 mana elf on the board.

Hi asm, I really like your deck, it looks like this primer hasn't been updated in a while, I see a few new cards that have been asked about, what are your thoughts on cutting Ravaging Riftwurm for Rhonas? 1 power less, but the Rhonas pump ability seems really good. So far in testing my biggest problem has been no way to tutor for anything that's not a creature. The other concern is reliance on the graveyard.

Sylvanrush says... #15

I agree with SaintDaft - I'll likely pull something (like Ravaging Riftwurm for Rhonas the Indomitable - pumping infinite mana into Rhonas is GG.

I'll also be adding Thragtusk to the deck for lifegain and a creature. If I have infinite mana, and Temur Sabertooth, that's infinite 3/3s and infinite life.

Hey guys, really love the decklist, it's a very unique idea and I'm looking to introduce it to my playgroup as an alternative cEDH deck to my Kess Doomsday/Consultation one as it plays very differently! Just been doing some research before buying the cards and I just have a couple of questions regarding card choice:

  1. I noticed in earlier iterations of the deck you guys had Briarhorn instead of Hunted Troll, citing Hunted Troll's awkward costing cost of 4. Is this no longer a problem? Or is the swap back for a different reason (e.g. Hunted Troll having 2 more power and staying out so it can be flickered)?

  2. What do you think of Song of the Dryads? It seems like a great catch-all for any problem permanent like Linvala, Cursed Totem, Aven Mindcensor or Ethersworn Canonist. I'm concerned about the high casting cost, I don't like running 1 for 1 answers that cost more than 2 in cEDH either, and as your list is focused on winning fast and mana efficiency it may not be the optimal choice. In your experience would you think it's worth it to potentially take out any obstacle to victory?

  3. I'm sorry if this has been answered before and I haven't noticed, but is there any particular reason why Instilled Energy was cut? It seems like a pretty good untapper, especially if you have some way to bounce it like maybe Cloudstone Curio, and I'd probably run it over something like Emerald Charm. Your current list seems really tight though so not sure what you'd cut for it.

  4. Thought's on Rhonas' Last Stand? 2 mana for 5 power seems real nice and if you're going off you probably won't care about not getting to untap lands next turn right? Or is the drawback too risky? And on that note, how about the big man Rhonas himself as a fattie with an infinite mana outlet stitched on? I guess 3 mana for 5 power is quite lackluster by this deck's standards though.

Once again, thank you for your hard work on the deck.

Love the deck and everything about it, still learning the looping combos, etc., and having a blast with it. I read your rationale for excluding Walking Ballista, and overall I agree that it's inefficient removal but I use it exclusively as a finisher and it strikes me as a far less convoluted win-con once infinite mana has been established.

I found Elvish Spirit Guide to be helpful in slamming T2 Selvala, and also squeezing out an extra activation of Selvala when mana is tight in early turns, and I'm curious as to the reason for its exclusion.

Finally, I've had great success with Glimpse of Nature. Rather than relying on your fatties being the biggest (which admittedly they usually are), Glimpse lets me flicker even utility creatures for great benefit; adding an extra draw outlet even if all I can do is bounce Wirewood Symbiote and Quirion Dryad, all at an aggressive 1G cost.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

I'm surprised that Walking Ballista isn't even among the notable exclusions, is there something wrong with it? it seems like such an easy win-con for mono green infinite mana decks

Is there any benefit to use the stag over polukranos

December 7, 2018 3 p.m.

Mai says... #20

@PapaBear97:

Polukranos doesn't have a repeatable effect, which wouldn't be such a problem if it at least died when fighting a beast created with Beast Within, but it doesn't.

You could still use it in conjuction with Temur Sabertooth, to make the effect repeatable.

Somberwald Stag being a 4/3 dies fighting a 3/3 beast, so you can then use Eternal Witness to return it back from the graveyard to your hand, rinse and repeat until all beasts are dead.

December 11, 2018 3:04 p.m.

PapaBear97 says... #21

Yea but don't you need to bounce the Eternal Witness/Skullwinder anyway?

December 13, 2018 1:46 a.m.

astorlapapa says... #22

Its basically against Linvala, as she disables all activated abilities (including the Commanders mana ability), she needs to be killed and the best approach is the Stag.

Isn't Rath's Edge better than Mouth of Ronom? It allows the land loop to be a direct kill instead of just a creature wipe.

You want mouth in to kill Linvala on its own
