Yes duskwatch recruiter combo is the main reason I like paradox engine.

While you have cut both, how would you compare Briarhorn vs Groundbreaker? I currently play only 2 colorless lands so the mana cost of Groundbreaker is usually fine, but is the advantage of Briarhorn being cheaper worth the drawback of only being able to use it while the ability is on the stack?

I prefer groundbreaker to briarhorn but prefer phytoburst to both. Sometimes you don't have 4 mana sources on t3, which makes groundbreaker awkward.

Briarhorn doesn't make enough mana like dreadnought to justify the evoke.

I am in love with every part of this deck and will be constructing my own based on this. Great job! also take Mox diamond out of your maybe board because you have it in your main board.

Does Gaea's Touch have a spot in this list over something like sol ring? Has it been given any testing? It may just be a preference change at best. I haven't gotten to test this deck yet. I was thinking a turn 1 mana dork into a turn 2 gaea's touch play 2 forests and then sac it, play sevala and have one mana up for something else like autumn's veil or nature's claim. It could also be pitched to chrome mox unlike sol ring

Sol ring enables a turn 2 selvala. Gaea's touch does not.

how much testing have Instill Energy and Nature's Chosen received? they seem good both as a combo and as untappers

Dunadain They were in the original list but have since been swapped out for vitalize. tw0handt0uch still likes them for the combo with cloudstone curio.

Turn 1 forest > turn 2 forest > Gaea's Touch > another forest > sacrifice gaea's touch for 2 green mana and tap other forest > selvala.

Update: I love the deck, it has beaten most of my local meta (except the sidisi man the myth the legend) but I find most games I wish I could just have Dosan off of Woodland Bellower to protect me while im comboing, I play almost the exact same list minus the snow package what do you suggest is a good card to take out?

This list looks awesome.I'm still a little confused with the lengthy combo, how do you end up with no cards after Scroll Rack? Also have you guys though about Aetherflux Reservoir? It seems really good cause once you cast 5+ spells you can just oops win.

March 26, 2017 5:08 p.m.

Dunadain says... #13

babykrugg: Scroll Rack puts your hand into exile then puts that many cards in your hand from the deck, since there are no cards is your deck you end up wthout a hand, redraw your deck, (the same way you did it last time) and repeat.

As for Aetherflux Reservoir I've never really even considered it (I'm sure the creators have though) seems kind of bad though, unlike other decks we have little tutoring and few ways of sculpting our draws, for that reason all of our wincons are solid cards all around, second we have 0 ways of tutoring, third, while we call this is a storm deck we don't actually cast nearly as many spells as a true storm deck. fourth this deck's objective is to get infinite man then draw the deck reservoir does nothing for either strategies pulling this deck away from it's focus. (also it takes more then 5 spells to kill), Finally (I promise this is the last one) we have a bunch of wincons already and we've even cut a few that look better than resevoir

Still maybe I'm wrong, what do you think asm

babykrugg says... #14

OK, thanks for the response Dunadain, i forget you had already drawn your whole deck.

tw0handt0uch says... #15

Ya you use aetherflux when you have no better finishing option. Since we have two good ways to finish already (hasty attacking with infinite power dudes, milling opponents with scroll rack/ jar) aetherflux is just a "win more" card that would occupy a valuable slot

awesome, i have been looking for another competitive deck and i think this is the one ill build

Dunadain yep, you are spot on with that assessment.

Could you possibly explain your wincon's a little more, I dont understand how Beast Within wins the game.

March 30, 2017 12:29 p.m.

tw0handt0uch says... #19

With infinte mana and deck in hand you play out temur sabertooth (if hes not out there already). Cast beast winin on one of their things. Now cast eternal witness to get beast within back to hand. Bounce eternal witness back to hand with cat. Now you are back to the start of a loop. Cast beast within again, then ewit, then bounce ewit. Low up all the things (leaving many beasts behind).

Now cast somberwald stag and let it fight 1 beast on etb, killing both. Play ewit to get stag back. Bounce ewit with cat. Repeat this loop to remove all beasts. From this point winning should be a formality.

Thoughts on the new 3 drop cat snake from amonkhet? Prowling serpopard, 4/3 for 3, can't be countered and creature spells you control can't be countered

March 30, 2017 5:44 p.m.

Dunadain says... #21

sounds like a worse Dosan which was cut, still, merits testing, at a 4/3 it probably will trigger a draw which is nice

I think the cat snake isnt good enough, but I could be wrong.

How important is Concordant Crossroads in this type deck? It seems to add a couple of combos and extra, creative ways to finish off your opponents but it also could really help my enemies. And if I should grab one for this deck, when should I play the card? Early as I can or only when the win or potential win presents itself? Thanks for your time :)
