I run a non brostorm version of her, love it. I was directed here from a Reddit page which raised the question "how do you win without combat?" And I see you did great with the memory jar and near within cycling. But what do you think about Walking Ballista?

We foumd through testing that we really only needed 1 creature infinite mana outlet. We're using Duskwatch in the slot as it can be fetched off Green Sun's Zenith and Woodland Bellower and has neat synergy with Paradox Engine where it can go off on its own.

Hey all, does Growing Rites of Itlimoc warrant some testing? I was talking with some friends and we came to the conclusion that's it is a bit slow and the effect while strong as all get out it isn't exactly the kinda effect we need in selvala. Anyways I figured I should get some opinions here before I make my decision on that card. Thanks in advance

You are right. The deck does't go really go wide until the combo turn, at which point casting this card is mediocre.

Creative idea. Im curious, have you ever considered Tempting Wurm ? When you start to go off, the down side to the wurm doesnt seem overly impactful. Its a 5/5 for 2 mana, so it help generate the mana you need to begin the combo and it will most likely draw a card.
Just a thought

It seems extremely risky - say an opponent was greedy and tapped out to force another player to answer you - well turns out that player doesn't have anything, but now you give the first opponent a chance to interact again by giving him mana. Secondly, if you fail to go off (interaction or whatnot), then Tempting Wurm leaves you in a very bad position. I wouldn't run it over a pump spell.

How do you feel about Planar Bridge? It's a little clunky but can help pull out those hard to get artifacts to secure a game win, such as Staff of Domination or Cloudstone Curio.
Nice deck btw!

I would rather run a Sword of the Paruns before I ran a planar bridge. 14 to play and activate, and you still have to use the activated ability of the thing you tutored. If you had that much mana, you could win with just about any other gas card.

What is your reasoning for running Gemstone Caverns when you don't play the moxen? How relevant is the option to not use its mox ability and play it as a standard land?
October 11, 2017 5:54 p.m.
I run gemstone over the moxen for exactly that reason - you can choose not to exile anything. The deck doesn't have cheap wheels to refill a fast ramp hand, I personally like the option with gemstone caverns. Some people run the mox, I don't like it too much because I feel it hurts my ratios of fatties/pump and draw spells.

You mention that root maze and elivsh pioneer are why you dont run fetches. but you dont run elvish pioneer. so is root maze still extremely abundant in your meta?
October 15, 2017 4:43 a.m.
We cut pioneer a while back, but it's playable if you are on a budget. Root maze pops up every now and then. I still hold the position that the negligible advantages gained by fetches are not worth the significant slow down when someone does pop a root maze.

I think he means your win % will not change noticably with or without fetches because the percentage you gain by deckthinning/topdeck manipulation is offset by the percent you lose by being weaker to bloodmoon, root maze, thalia2
October 15, 2017 7:56 p.m.
I personally think your meta (like most things) has a lot to do with your choice for fetches(it did for me). My usual play group has stuff like Blood pod sissay storm/stax which makes fetches pretty brutal.

Yeah definitely. And this list isn't set in stone either, you should adjust based on your needs.

Looks like there are 4 infinite mana combos in the primer that are null because Elvish Pioneer got cut? Will there be an update to the primer to reflect that?
October 18, 2017 1:50 a.m.
The primer could use some updating, but I probably would move the pioneer lines to a different section for budget stuff. The card is a decent t1 ramp spell which has some combo utility that makes it a little better than mox diamond in my opinion.

Hey, I run selvala with no true infinites, which is fun for a deck that wins turn 3-5, and I just wanted to throw my opinions in the mix.-Paradox Engine is basically a win on its own (given you have 5 power on the board)-I run regal force and end up grabbing it a lot because its the only tutorable draw etb trigger I could find.-I don't run any pump spells besides berserk and empyrial armor, which is a godly early play. With more creatures in the deck cream of the crop is awesome.-My win cons are psychosis crawler and Aetherflux reservoir (crawler is the primary win con, reservoir is for if i have less than 40 cards left in my deck when i get crawler out)-Myojin of life's web + Weird Harvest is awesome.

I actually do run paradox engine in my list, I think tw0handt0uch doesn't. Cream of the crop is nice for budget option. It's decent but since it doesn't put anything in your hand, it's not really gas.

Correct - if for some reason you had a bunch of your creatures exiled or something you could cast Beast Within on one of your permanents, then bring them both back the permanent + Beast Within by repeatedly bouncing and re-casting Eternal Witness, play and repeat until you have a beast army and swing with Haste.
