your mana base is too taxing. i would work on trying to find some other lands to play.

deckmonster99 Burn does not care about it's own life total as long as your opponent is dead. Thank you for being polite.

@quesobueno123 u have to think outside the box, i have played burn for years quesobueno123 before u probably played magic. in 95% of your games your lands wont matter, u are right. what about when u play another burn deck? or a aggressive aggro zoo. laying a Clifftop Retreat or a land of that sort could mean the difference between a win and a lose, a deck is never done and u could have an even better deck with a few land changes i promise. hey im trying to be helpful here now bro, dont take my comment as a negative or me trying to pick on u. im not some troll trying to get attention. ive spoken my mind about other topics and now i wanted to look at your deck and give u something. running the amount of shocks u are is overkill imo.

Sure thank you, when playing against other burn lists I fetch for mountains, then side out some bumps or charms for claws and when a claw lands it is close to game over. I have not found this to be an issue, but will test some other lands. Thank You!

I would agree with deckmonster99, I would, if I didn't notice the basic mountains you had hidden away for your deck.

Dragon's claw is op. Stacking it with eidolons hits them for two, you for 1 95% if the time. Agree with queso, however, i run 2 lightning helix's mb so it is helpful

I agree that you have to many shocks. I suggest you take out 1 sacred foundry, 1 blood crypt, for 1 dragonskull summit, 1 clifftop retreat. you're not running kor fire walker in your side so you don't need to be able to fetch for double W. also, take out the mutagenic growths for either 1 more of each skull crack and searing blaze or 2 helix. most of the pro tour lists in general didn't run growth and none of the top 8 lists ran it. most of the current lists don't run it either. Because you're running lava mancer you should also take out 1-2 mountains for fetches.

In your FNM 2nd place update you say you lost 1-2 to burn. what kind of burn and why?

wwhitegoldd A near Identical deck, it is 50/50 and I just lost that one.

Definitely do NOT want to be running any land that could ETBT in a fast paced deck like this. You either go fetch+shock or you go basics. No other lands.

Femme is correct.

Femme_Fatale says... #12

Hell even control decks don't want any ETBT land. No how may times I lost because I got a Stirring Wildwood instead of a Temple Garden?

I would disagree wih Femme_Fatale's statement, you should obviously be running 4 Lavaclaw Reaches to block when you don't have any creatures.

noahband Uh... let's not answer that... (I'm kidding stupid)

I feel like fast lands (Blackcleave Cliffs) can work, but certainly not buddy lands like Dragonskull Summit. I run 3 Blackcleave and only 2 basics, and it works fine, but apart from that fetches, shocks and basics should really be the only lands you run.

I love the new name! I'm finding that Eidolon is the lynchpin of this deck. So good.

February 28, 2015 12:59 p.m.

Love the deck! I play Mardu Burn for Modern and 4c Burn interests me. Having the highest rated Burn deck I have a couple questions:

Has Mutagenic Growth helped you at all? Would Shard Volley be good? And what happened to Lightning Helix?

February 28, 2015 3:26 p.m.

quesobueno123 says... #21

Growth has been great. Shard volley is also great if I take out growth it goes in. Helix goes in if you play vs a lot of burn.

Since you have access to black wouldn't Tasigur, the Golden Fang make sence for you? He will very frequently give you back burn spells and can be brought out as early as turn 3!

Lately I've been seeing a lot of burn deck run 2x or 3x Path to Exile in the side. The reason for this is that nowadays, a lot of burn decks are playing Kor Firewalker instead of Dragon's Claw for the mirror. What's your opinion on those? Also, what is Crackling Doom doing for you? Is that your answer to Siege Rhino?

February 28, 2015 3:58 p.m.

16smith says... #24

I've also seen burn decks running 2x Deflecting Palm in the side? Is that a possible answer to Siege Rhino?

Taisgur is goyf burn does not play goyf. Doom is for any creatures and gets around protection.
