I would actually play Skullcrack over Shard Volley for it's ability to avoid Spellskite, get arund protection, and just make the deck even more playable after sideboard. With all the lifegain people are packing these days.

Kjartan I have been considering that.

Only problem is that that is a lot of two-drops.

I don't really see a problem in having two more.I don't really agree there

22 - one drops, into 19 two drops sound almost perfect to me, and you are 24 in 17 right now. (That's considering Rift Bolt as a one-drop)

I sometimes see people focusing so much on having a one-drop dominated curve, that their decks underimpreses in playtesting because they run out of gas too soon, (Especially against slower machups, and after sideboarding), but then again, it's a delicate balance.

Me personally, I consider Shard Volley to be a 1,33 drop, (in burn that is) considering its drawback is only a set back if you don't win when you play it, if you need to cast multiple spells next turn, or if you only have 1-2 lands in play, but it's a drawbak nontheless.

But play the deck how you like it ofc, i'm not saying I know more than you, that's just how I feel when I burn

Sure, it makes sense, but it makes it so much harder to win turn 3 or 4.

Kjartan says... #7

I wouldn't say -much- harder, just a little bit. You could alway go 1 in 1 if you disire. That would give you the, if you ask me, nearly perfect burn curve of 23 one-drops and 18 two-drops.

But I see your point.

I like having three skullcrack and two command. Having the command without a creature makes it strictly worse than skullcrack. Also, when you have an opening hand with a mountain, a fetch, and no green or white spells in hand, it makes it really hard to guess what to fetch for, when you know you will draw a command or a charm.

No... Command is still better if you have an extra land in hand then that plus bolt also works. Also damage can't be prevented only comes into play against firewalker, post board, when my firewalkers come in.

What do you use Shrine of Burning Rage for? There aren't really any heavy control match ups in this meta. Tron and Twin can just return it to your hand/finish you off before it does anything.

It is for against the control decks in my particular meta.

quesobueno123 says... #15

wwhitegoldd He just couldn't race.

I play practically the exact same list and I have gone 0-3 vs bloom titan because I can't race him. he always wins a turn before I can. how good a player is the guy who played it because I don't think it's supposed to be a good match up for us burn players.

Called, luck of the draw.

Didn't have the heart of the cards yo.

wwhitegoldd I also beat a guy who had it fully foiled out at an IQ and another guy who has played it for a while. The guy in the update was borrowing it, so he was not so good. But I have never lost to it.

what's the key?

March 29, 2015 7:10 p.m.

quesobueno123 says... #20

wwhitegoldd There's not really a "key" to winning it, postboard revelries really help. Only fast hands are acceptable, since you need to win asap.

yeah I know, I still can't seem to win.

I still think that the black version of this deck works better with Atarka's Command. White version has no space for it, the white deck is really good against the mirror, but I find it slower then the black version vs combo, control tempo decks.

I would also like to add that you are violating the philosophy of fire, every card the sideboard should deal damage. Kor Firewalker is just too slow, and instead of finding the mana for it, you should be burning your opponent. Same issue with Pyrite Spellbomb and Rending Volley. I find that four Destructive Revelry is as good for twin, and there is no need to add Rending Volley. Well, the reason behind why is because I play the black version with Rakdos Charm.

Zulama Kor Firewalker is amazing in the mirrror. Pyrite Spellbomb is to kill opposing kor firewalkers. Rending Volley is awesome.

Zulama I'm rather surprised to find a burn player speaking negatively of Rending Volley or Kor Firewalker. I mean these are sideboard cards we're talking about and Each of those two cards has a perfect specific purpose. Kor Firewalker cannot be killed or blocked by an enemy RDW/Burn deck and he gains you life in the situation you'll be needing it most. Rending Volley is your ace/trump card against Splinter Twin. You're not always going to be able to kill them by turn 4, and with the right cards set that's when they'll go off. Name two cards that do their jobs better than those two. I don't care if they don't do "damage to target player." When they come out in their match ups they win you the game.
