I feel that Shrine of Burning Rage is highly overrated. In a slow attrition matchup, you would be better off with more burn to race before they set up than to go along with them for the slow ride. I am a major advocate of Shard Volley for a last minute 1CMC 3 dmg, and a couple Flames of the Blood Hand wouldn't hurt either. If you want more creatures, Hellspark Elemental is also a pretty sweet option.

Weird strick, use Scalding Tarn instead of Bloodstained Mire , it's trick your opponent turn one. Very small advantage, bun an advantage nonetheless.

I wouldn't consider this a budget deck if you're playing fetchlands. When you think about it, you realize this is a $400 burn deck.

Have you considered running Monastery Swiftspear ? Its a powerful one drop that'll usually be hitting for about 3-4 and can enable alot of quick kills.

usohatchi Monastery Swiftspear is good, but Goblin Guide
is better and more versatile. With Swiftspear, you'll be swinging for 1 less turns one and two, as turn two is usually Eidolon. Also, it limits you to pre-combat burn, which usually isn't optimal. My last problem with it is that it's not as strong of a topdeck, without burn spells to trigger Prowess it's just a 1/2 haste.

GlistenerAgent I would 13 bucks vs. 65 bucks seems like a big difference.
usohatchi I agree with Bigbadbear88. Sorry.

It gives them an option. Options are bad, unless they're you're options. They will always give you the worse option, and will never take (if played correctly) more than four damage from Vexing Devil . It's a 1 mana 4 damage spell with downside, effectively.

xzypher You never want to give the opponent a choice as to what happens. Please up vote!

While Vexing Devil gives them an option, what if you're happy with either at any time? As a burn deck, 4 damage is a win. If it lands as a creature, it's eating a removal spell that would otherwise find your Goblin Guide or Eidolon. Either as a 4 damage 1 drop or removal magnet, it's good. To me it's a win/win.

In the end, you just want them to take as much damage as possible. If they Bolt your Devil, that's actually a loss for you because your spell didn't deal 3+ damage.

But... but... this deck could hardly be considered "budget"!

The only maindeck difference between your build and mine, Lightning Bolt and Some Lookalikes, is I replaced the 3x Lightning Helix and 2x Searing Blaze with 4x Vexing Devil and 1x Skullcrack. How does Helix work for you? I tend not to be a fan of it, but it does help offset the extremely painful manabase and Eidolon. Also, do you ever find yourself to be flooded with Searing Blaze? quesobueno123

Bigbadbear88 I like the Lightning Helix a lot against aggro or storm ( because they grapeshot for your life total then suddenly you dont die from it). And no I have not been flooded with searing blaze.
