@Dead_eye5 Fog Bank and Wall of Denial are fantastic. Instead of Vertigo Spawn i'd probably run Wall of Frost to avoid burn spells. That being said, I don't really want to take this deck modern, even though it'd open up some other great defenders. If I do, though, I keep those in mind.
Thanks for your input!

''T4: Slow down, you tapped two for Sylvan Caryatid , and then Axebane and the rest for Mnemonic Wall ? You haven't even played any instants or sorceries...?
T5: Hold on does that even work?! Fated Infatuation on Mnemonic wall returning... Fated Infatuation? And then played it again on Axebane.''
I really like this interaction!

I hate to be that guy that ruins your deck idea, but your T5 interaction doesn't work. Fated Infatuation isn't in the graveyard until after it resolves meaning that the Mnemonic Wall hits the field before Fated Infatuation is in the graveyard. Therfore, Fated Infatuation isn't a legal target for your Mnemonic Wall copy.

@Zikkeryzak When you cast Fated Infatuation, once it resolves, a token will created, and Fated Infatuation then goes to the graveyard. When the token is created, it gets an ETB trigger, and allows you retrieve the Fated Infatuation that just got played.

Oh you are right lol. I feel stupid now but ty for the clarification. I forgot the wall's ability would trigger after the fact. Definite +1 for this awesome interaction idea and incorporation into a deck

I am pretty new to magic, so can someone please break down the combo that happened to play Colossus of Akros and monstrosity him on turn six? It would be much appreciated!

@KrazyKarma The card Axebane Guardian taps for mana equal to the number of defenders you control. On T6, given the combo above you control 7 defenders, two of them being guardians, so that's 14 mana. You should also have at least three lands and a Sylvan Caryatid . That makes 18 mana, enough to monstrous!

+1 for finally coming up with a way to use one of my favorite cards thank you!

after a couple playtests you need a way to dig through your library... cause you have to win by turn 8 at the latest in standard with this type of deck, im not sure what off the top of my head

@smurfsandwich Generally Fated Infatuation lets me dig since it scries on my turn. It's not all that efficient, but it generates a ton of walls and a ton of mana from Axebane Guardian .

@lessthanthree24 I'd love to see the look on someone's face when I drop a Zegana with a monstrous Colossus on the field. Problem is, three fourths of the creatures have 0 power, so I don't see it being all that useful.

you should play a Phenax, God of Deception in here. It should be very easy to splash for a single black mana because of the Axebane Guardian and Sylvan Caryatid and it gives your deck another optional win. Maybe even play 1 or 2 basic Swamps to search for with Gatecreeper Vine

@noobplayer17 I had thought about Phenax but wasn't sure how to make it work. I forgot about Gatecreeper's fetch ability in that sense. I'll definitely keep my eye out for one!

I was also going to suggest Phenax, God of Deception because of his interaction with high defense. But I really enjoy this build and it's not too spendy! Also would you mind checking out my deck that kinda stars Colossus of Akros as well? Stilts to Kilts

Hey, to answer your question about sylvan, you finish all the effects on infatuation first meaning your scry is wasted.

@Zikkeryzak That's a shame. Thanks for answering though.
@Xameel I haven't had a chance to go to an FNM yet, but I can't wait to try it out.

i suppose it depends on it being either standered or not, for the rest of the other card options here, if you are going full standered for FNM. id recommend having maybe Golgari Guildgate instead of the swamps, incase you need some green mana and you can get it easily with Gatecreeper Vine to get god out. also -2 of the Mnemonic Wall cause that is too much mana for a basic blocker and just to get 1/12 possible instants. then +2 on the Doorkeeper , trust me when i say that those are buggers when you have a lot of defenders like you do. +1 as well, very good looking deck <3
March 24, 2014 8:36 p.m.
I disagree with the [Mnemonic Wall] -2. I've play tested this many times and the mana never seems to be a problem. By targeting it with [Fated Inspiration], you get a free wall each round if you want. The only thing that worries me about this deck is the winning conditions. The [Akroan Colossus] is just wonderful, but if they're at the bottom of the deck that's bad news. Milling can be very effective, but it seems that mill-decks built from the bottom up even have a tough time getting through the opponents deck before they get killed, even with Jace. Honestly, i'd try going up to four colossi, to make sure you'll get one

@littleadam11 I think the guildgates are a good idea. Mnemonic Wall , though, is a crucial part of the interaction with Fated Infatuation , which lets me search my deck. Doorkeeper looks like a lot of fun, and I'll probably throw him in until I get Phenax.
@Xameel After playing it some more I decided that having more Colossi isn't a bad idea, especially if the opponent controls an indestructible creature like Xenagos, God of Revels .

ah, i see that, i just thought you might have had a but of mana struggle a bit, now i guess it is rather ready to be tested in FNM, i would love to know how it goes :D

I like the Defender ability here in the deck, haven't seen it used much. I also really like the Colossus of Akros card and am working him into a deck now.
Have you considered Fog Bank ? It could replace the Hover Barrier , its one mana cheaper and still wouldn't die. It would be more vulnerable to burn spells however. Vertigo Spawn might also be useful in keeping other opponents tapped abilities from being used. Last suggestion would be Wall of Denial , now I know this is a blue green deck, but this card is perfect for this if you could find a way to get this card out. Same converted mana cost as Hover Barrier , but it also has shroud, protecting it from spells. Some of these could possibly go on side/maybe boards.
Hope that helps, but its a great looking deck!
