Shamans Altar budget deck series, Yisan.

Commander / EDH Aggro Budget Mono-Green Primer Ramp

Ghostshaman33

welcome to the 3rd installment of the shamans altar. A budget deck series by yours truly.

The goal of this series is to rekindle the essence of commander (EDH, if you’re an old timer like me). Fun decks with out breaking the bank. In this series of primers I will work my way through the color pie, keeping each deck at a maximum of $50. Some decks, much like the first one, will come in cheaper. I’ll include some upgrades at the bottom for those with deeper pockets.

this deck came in at $45

So now that you’ve made it this far let’s begin with a mono green commander Yisan, the Wanderer Bard. This deck is green in all it’s glory, ramp into fatties. Yet thanks to our commander we do this with a bit of a twist. Yisan, the Wanderer Bard let’s us pay a few mana to add a counter to Yisan, then search out a creature equal in mana cost each counter on Yisan. We can utilize untap effects like Seeker of Skybreak/Thousand-Year Elixir and Sword of the Paruns to repeate that effect.
Just like any good green deck we want mana, mana, and more mana. We can utilize ramp cards like Karametra's Acolyte/Sakura-Tribe Scout/Sylvan Scrying/Into the Wilds/Explosive Vegetation/Rampant Growth and a few more to achieve our lust for mana.

Of course we also run the time honored dorks like Arbor Elf/Llanowar Elves and Elvish Mystic... and this isn’t an elf tribal???

For drawing out our key pieces we have a few things available including Shamanic Revelation/Harmonize/Garruk's Packleader/Runic Armasaur and Regal Force

For tutors we have Fierce Empath/Primal Command and Yisan, the Wanderer Bard himself

Here’s where things get fun. The apex predators of the deck. Hydra Broodmaster/Gigantomancer/Oran-Rief Hydra/Pelakka Wurm and Ridgescale Tusker
Oh a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Tormod's Crypt to get rid of those pesky graveyards with all their zombies and nick nacks... Bow of Nylea because death touch, that’s why. Power Conduit Incase you didn’t grab the right 5 drop and need to reload

And a few others like Vitalize/Overwhelming Stampede/Overrun and Regrowth

We need a way to abuse Yisan, the Wanderer Bard and what better way to do that than with some good ole tap-untap shenanigans Magewright's Stone/Sword of the Paruns/Thousand-Year Elixir all work well Or we can equip Illusionist's Bracers to Seeker of Skybreak and untap until our deck turns blue... or until we run out of mana
Got a pesky flier pecking at your head? Obnoxious enchantment ruining your zen? Try these Deglamer/Naturalize/Nature's Claim/Plummet/Unravel the Aether

I hope you’ve enjoyed this budget primer, next up we will be looking at a mono white commander Kemba, Kha Regent
