This Legacy deck stemmed from the changeling ability found with many shapeshifters. A creature with the changeling ability is every creature type at all times. The main changeling shapeshifters used in this deck are
Mothdust Changeling
, Shapesharer, Woodland Changeling, and
Changeling Titan
. This deck uses this ability to its full advantage.
In there for early mana production are Birds of Paradise and Gemhide Sliver. Gemhide Sliver gives all slivers, including all changelings, the ability to add any color mana to the mana pool. This combo can be brought out early in the game and will bring out the deck very fast to combo.
The core of the deck:
Descendants' Path
. This is the gateway for all the creatures in my library onto the battlefield. Assuming a changeling is on a the battlefield,
Descendants' Path
will bring any creature card from the top of the library straight into play for no cost at all. Add Worldly Tutor, others such as Sensei's Divining Top, and a scry card like
Cryptic Annelid
into the mix, and you have full control over what creatures you want in play. Emrakul, the Aeons Torn has never felt so warmly welcomed.
Progenitor Mimic is another cornerstone of this deck. Progenitor Mimic's unique ability enhances all of my original options. For instance, it can increase mana production by copying Birds of Paradise, Gemhide Sliver, or the changelings. It can even destroy permanents copying Acidic Slime. Copy
Cryptic Annelid
. Copy the opponents creature. The possibilities are endless.
The Reaper King combo speaks for itself. While in play, any changeling coming into play destroys a permanent. A pretty deadly combo with
Descendants' Path
and/or Progenitor Mimic.
Changelings paired with
Peer Pressure
is another nifty combo. With the amount of changelings this deck can output,
Peer Pressure
can essentially gain control of any creature.
Other cards that have not been mentioned: Cyclonic Rift and Kira, Great Glass-Spinner. Cyclonic Rift is a versatile card available for early game use, but also available late in the game as a sweeper. It gives the deck the time it needs to develop combos. Kira, Great Glass-Spinner is a great compliment to the deck as it provides a layer of protection for my mana producers and changelings.
The lands Tranquil Thicket and
Lonely Sandbar
provide the option of drawing cards. Since this deck gets out fast it is important to be able to reach early into the deck. These lands provide the option to forgo mana production and dig into that library.
That's all folks!
