What is this hot garbage?

Welcome, friends, to Sharuum of the Citadel, where the real commander here is Bolas's Citadel . As soon as I saw this card, I knew I had to do some dumb commander deck, so here it is.

Sharuum the Hegemon is basically only there for when somebody decides to be a jerk (rightfully so...) and blow up your precious citadel.

Other Considerations

Oloro, Ageless Ascetic seems to be a good choice, but a lot of people groan when he hits the table because of how controlling he is usually built, and you don't really want to be targeted by the aggro player. You really need your life to get going until you can hit some huge lifegain.

Silas Renn, Seeker Adept also is a good choice, along with some other partner (most likely Tymna the Weaver ). However, getting him through isn't super easy to do, and any sort of unblockable package just wouldn't synergize with the rest of the deck.

Now, for why you're really here, Bolas's Citadel . Praise Bolas! This card is great. Even without building around it, being able to play a bunch off the top of our deck at the cost of life is great, especially with 40 life. But we're gonna build around it and break it.

Main Strategy

How do we win with this thing? There are a few ways, but the most straightforward and wellknown way is with Sensei's Divining Top and card: Aetherflux Reservior. The top is just great in general, letting us draw past lands or anything we don't want to cast for only 1 life, but with Aetherflux Reservior we can easisly make the table explode. Cast the top, gain 1 life, put the top on top of our deck, cast it, gain 2 life... eventually getting way more life than needed and just blasting everyone out of the game.

Other ways to win

Storm is great. You're going to have a massive storm count most turns, especially with the Top.

Tendrils of Agony can often close out the game. Sure, you need a LOT of copies... but it's doable. Even if it doesn't it will net you a ton of life to be able to keep going.

Temporal Fissure makes people scoop. If not, well, good luck. If you have to pass the turn after this, you basically know you get another go.

Mind's Desire . Do I have to explain this? Maybe it's just win more, but... not always. Gets land out of the way, makes casting free... yeah. Maybe it's pretty great. Regardless, it's in here because the look of slowly mounting dread in your opponents' eyes as you cast spell after spell becomes terror when this thing hits the stack. Beautiful.

Mana Severance gets all those pesky lands out of your way.

Insidious Dreams . This card can just straight up win. Play it, discard 3 cards, put Aetherflux Reservoir , Sensei's Divining Top , and Bolas's Citadel on top. GG.

Necropotence . This card is always great but you can just exile lands off the top to get them out of the way.

Temporal Cascade is... kinda gross. You don't pay the entwine cost, so you can shuffle all your spells back into your library, and then nobody gets a hand. You don't care about not having a hand. Other people care about not having a hand. They will be sad while you praise the God-Pharoh.

Golem's Heart helps keep you alive with top if you're running low and don't have Aetherflux Reservoir for some reason.

Why isn't X in the deck?

Lots of different possibilities. Maybe I'm dumb. Maybe I don't want it in my meta. Maybe I like my jank and win too much anyway. Please though, post suggestions! :) They will be appreciated.

Possible Additions

Lotus Petal . Turn earlier for the citadel, and would allow citadel on turn 2 with the perfect 5 cards.

Closing Thoughts

I'm sure I'll add more to this eventually - although I may take it apart and make the new Sisay from Modern Horizons instead. Tutoring the Citadel direct to the field seems neat.
