A Newt?
This is my attempt at making the Brew that the Bogbrew Witch makes into something Tasty.
It's a Budget Deck, the only big cards that I have in here I pulled out of lucky packs.
So I suppose that it's a Budget Bubbling Bogbrew Brewed Batch?
I need YOUR help at making this FNM capable!
Let's look at what I believe are common problem of Combo Decks.
They are slow
Read the Bones Is possibly the greatest boon to speeding up finding the pieces you need. I run a full playset, because with enough life-gain I should be able to burn through and find what I need.
Bogbrew Witch She's a slow Hag, but being able to reliably tutor out a Cauldron or a Newt makes her invaluable. She pays for herself if she can survive a turn or two.
Liliana of the Dark Realms Either thins your deck by getting you constant lands, buffs a creature to a threat, or removes a problem.
Unstable and Losing a Piece ruins the combo
Elixir of Immortality Is surprisingly good at recovering what I need here, as well as giving me 5 life to activate the other pieces of the pie.
Aggro tears through Combo
Imposing Sovereign Slows down the horde, giving me some breathing room.
So, let's take a look at the Actual Combo Pieces I have available shall we?
Sanguine Bond This card begs to be played. I like to think of it as a Gap Creator. Even a simple Elixir creatures a 10 Life difference.
Angelic Accord It took a lot of thought, but partly the reason I went with Black and White was to take advantage of this and the interactions with Bubbling Cauldron and Elixir of Immortality. A 4/4 with Evasion is nothing to sneeze at.
Archangel of Thune Almost Single Handedly puts a clock on my opponent. Either they deal with her, or she starts pushing everything faster.
Fiendslayer Paladin Built in Lifelink and first strike that avoids 50% of the best targeted removal in the format.
Bubbling Cauldron Brews quite nicely when your Newt turns into an Angel.
Elixir of Immortality 5 Life is nothing to sneeze at for 3 mana total. Triggers quite a bit in my Deck just from being around.
Ajani, Caller of the Pride While strictly NOT helping the lifegain, he does have a potential game ending Ultimate or Board Wipe Recovery.
Festering Newt Careful you don't badmouth the Witch, else this little guy will be chewing on your toes!
Hypothetical Playing of this Deck!
T1: Swamp + Newt, or Plains and Elixir
T2: Land + Sovereign or Doomblade
T3: Land + Read the Bones, or Put Cauldron Down, or Fiendslayer
T4: Land + Angelic Accord
T5+: Thin the deck with Liliana of the Dark Realms Read the Bones, Create Angels, Burn health with Sanguine Bond and Festering Newt.
