Why Typhoid Rats ? It seems like it sorta underperforms in general. It's a fine blocker, but I think playing aggressively off of your tempo might work better.

I might try replacing it with Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek to really play right through your opponent's plans.

I've actually rebuilt this deck a few times, and one of those times was specifically to see how well it worked with better tools such as Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek . It looked something like this. -† BLΔCK †- SΔCR‡F‡C3. I've already foiled out this entire deck and then I learned a little more about competitive modern. so I'm not really into updating it, but rather just keep it as a fun deck for casual play.

oh and Typhoid Rats because when I was newer to magic than I am now I thought deathtouch was the best ability out there. It kills anything. The rats are regeneratable with Swarmyard too. Plus people hate to play against the rats.

Unconventional Decklist - I like it a lot!

This was my first deck. Obviously not top tier but quite effective and a lot of sacrifice synergy :)

not very first deck ever, but first deck I put together. Everything else before was a horrible jumble of cards I liekd and a ton of 1-ofs. Then through this site, I learned about formats and very beginner stuff like that and put this together, a few users helped me make it function better, but yea, first official deck. :)

It's a really great deck - one of the better Mono Black Control lists I have seen so far! And it features 3 of my favorite Black Cards: Phyrexian Obliterator, Sheoldred, Vampire Nighthawk.

While we are at these cards: Why only 3 Obliterators? Isn't Obliterator the best turn 4 Play? I would probably cut one Ghastlord for it.

Another question: Did you played it at any modern event yet?

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx maybe? you have a huge devotion count with your guys so it could be useful, though if you add it, it might be worth it to add in a spell with X in its cost.

Sometimes I play this deck with a foil promo Killing Wave so theres my X spell right there.

ouch, that would be a painful one lol! Another maybe to consider is Profane Command . Only reason Im really suggesting it is because I just traded for one, and its on my mind, lol

No worries. :) I was going to build this just a little differently, with added hand disruption in the main board. Liliana of the Veil would be nice just she's out of my price range for now.
