carlmoores I'm always happy to see another Mairsil player join the ranks :) He does play wildly different then most other things. Takes a little while to wrap your head around. Hopefully I have some good answers for you.

Some amount of board wipes are always needed. Your own meta will determine how many you should have but I run 4, Jaya Ballard, Task Mage , Nevinyrral's Disk , Oblivion Stone , Perilous Vault . I do not run and have not messed around with pillow forts in Mairsil. The amount of removal I run enables me to remove most threats. I have another deck, Divine Decree, that is a pillowfort/group slug deck and it still runs 3-4 board wipes along side 20-ish pillows. If your asking specifically about on board vs not on board, well I have never found a reason to run Damnation in this deck. I do run a lot more removal in this deck than I do in any other deck because of how small my board state usually is. The pillows you run should allow you to run less removal than me but remember pillows can be removed and are usually removed when it is least convenient...

I usually find myself flickering Mairsil rather than untapping him. I have some untap because it isn't useless but unless you have a lot in the cage or have one of the 'abuse' cards like Quicksilver Elemental in play each ability can only be used once per turn. I just find flicker effects more useful than untap effects. Which is why I also put such an emphasis on haste.

I wouldn't run a lot of hard hitting self mill like Traumatize but running 1-3 things like it or Mirror-Mad Phantasm can take you from doing poorly/ok to winning the game. I had that happen the other day actually. I was doing ok and then got mirror-mad to dump more than half my deck, followed up with Deadeye Navigator and went infinite. Definitely worth a few spots but can backfire.

Usually when I use Buried Alive I grab a flicker or haste effect and Spikeshot Elder + Tree of Perdition and win or come close to winning that turn. So I don't think Archaeomancer is needed to recur buried alive if you use it that way. If you are looking for more long term value and are using Entomb and Final Parting it is definitely worth testing. That would also give you another wizard for Galecaster Colossus which I have found to be really useful in and out of the cage.

Think I covered all your questions pretty well? Let me know if I can be of more help.

Upvote for that Mairsil art alone... 'I cannot be caged, I cannot be controlled, understand this as you die... ever pathetic ever fools!'

Koka I love that people are getting the reference, I wasn't sure if it was too old or not, lol.

DrukenReaps might be a bit old lol... fortunately you have the enhanced editions that got some new people into the fray. Shame Mairsil is not an elf or it would be almost perfect :D

Koka it is kinda silly because I enjoy game winning combos but I've just never liked infect. It is a good card for Mairsil though so it needs to go into my 'notable exclusions' when I get back to finishing the primer...

DrukenReaps Not silly at all. I was kind of expecting such a response and many play groups frown upon infect. Besides, the moment that card would become caged, it would be time to play archenemy :D

I might start building a more cutthroat deck just so I can order a Irenicus alt and do a deck with it. You gave me a very good (albeit very bad for my wallet) idea of making proxies out of the games I love.

Did a lot of the finishing touches on the new primer format. I intend to continue working on it but it is readable and most of the information that is going to be there is there. I think I want to drastically expand on some parts... I tend to be a person of few words so currently I have some 1 sentence sections, lol.

I suggest to add more creatures that allow you to untap your commander, like Pili-Pala and Grimgrin, Corpse-Born . Here are all the playable cards in your colors that have the {q} (untap symbol): http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&text=+[{q}]&type=+[%22Creature%22]&color=+![W]+![G]

Trespassing Souleater could allow you a commander kill.

burferking I've used some untappers and have kept the ones I think are the best but I really think flicker effects work so much better than untapping and tutors for those flickers are better than untapping. Just my experience with it so far.

54 out of 100 foils, over half way there! People really shouldn't do this... lol.

I have some additional changes I'm thinking about too.

Amaranthine Wall has literally never come up in any game. I easily have over a hundred games with this deck... Indestructible just gets powered out by flicker unless I can make everything I have indestructible. Not sure what to replace it with...

Search for Azcanta  Flip is a nice early drop to start getting the ball rolling but just feels underwhelming overall. Looking at Stitcher Geralf as a possible replacement.

Hoard-Smelter Dragon is one I am much more on the fence about but I'm thinking Viashino Heretic would be better for this deck. Kind of a toss up between the two... one takes more mana but the other requires tapping.

smleger I do like him as a character and some really powerful abilities but I just don't know if they fit the deck all that well. Worth checking again though.

After a few months running my own Mairsil build I have come to the conclusion that he is best built with as little cage pieces as possible. I'm personally down to maybe a dozen. I find the less potential cage pieces you replace with wheels or tutors the quicker you are to assemble win-cons and, for removal and interaction you are simply better off running removal and counters (paired with high priority cage target Darlnu, Lich Lord) than durdling around trying to get Hoard-Smelter or Shauku in the cage. I am also this close to cutting Quicksilver Elemental and Mirage Mirror as using Mairsil's activated abilities more than once a turn are not worth the effort if you are not going for an infinite mana combo (for clarity my kill condition is an Anthroplasm-Sage of Hours Infinite Turn lock or the good ol' Tree of Perdition - Hateflayer combo.

carlmoores oh that is definitely the way to go. My list is super durdly, lol. It works well enough most games in most metas for some reason. After I do nothing for 5 turns, provided I make it that far, things start to come together. I just have too much fun with giving Mairsil 20+ abilities.

You might consider Bolt Bend from WAR. I have been playing it since pulling it in prerelease and having effectively a counter for one red is pretty strong

carlmoores I definitely have a soft spot for target changing effects. Adds a bit of unexpected chaos to the game for the opponents, lol.

it's pretty great when you have all your blue sources tapped and people think they can remove Mairsil. "nope, remove your creature instead". Allowed me to establish a Disk Lock last Tuesday.

What illustrious manmeat.

A chad is just a meme really. Its someone thats particularly buff and handsome. But somehow its funny. Like someone overdid it and they're a little cartoonlike now
