Sigarda, Host of Herons

Sigarda is a voltron dream. Built in evasion and protection on a powerful body for less than 6 mana.

This flying, hexproof 5/5 with protection from sacrifice is just begging for you to power her up whatever way you see fit, and then swing on to victory.

Her colors, Green White, provide access to the strongest enchantments, as well as ramp to get both them and her out and swinging as soon as possible. Alone, she's very hard to kill, and with multiple ways to add indestructibility to her list of powers, you usually won't end up having to cast her more than twice.

The final reason I think she makes a fantastic commander is the feel of the deck. Part of this is due largely to aesthetics. Her art, and a lot of the art in the deck. Green and White are just cheerful colors to play. It just seems...friendlier. Though I believe others may disagree.

Sigarda the Enchantress

The deck, quite simply, is an enchantment-based voltron deck. The reason for enchantments instead of equipment, as well as for the name of this deck, is due to the draw engine created by a number of "Enchantress" abilities.

Cards like the Argothian and Verduran Enchantresses allow you to draw a card whenever you play an enchantment, refilling your hand as you dump cards onto Sigarda, and often drawing into more enchantments to put on her. This element is what's key in setting Sigarda the Enchantress apart from other voltron or Sigarda decks.

The Lack of Artifacts

This is the most controversial aspect of my deck. Short of the Sad Robot, I don't run a single artifact in this deck. No swords, no ramp, nothing. Part of the reason for this is simply that there wasn't much room. between the green ramp, enchantresses, and enchantments, there were neither many artifacts that I needed nor was there room for them.

Once I realized this, I saw the opportunity to add another element to the deck: artifact hate. Two cards in particular are Stony Silence and Titania's Song . In the general flow of a game, creatures get removed regularly, artifacts may be wiped once, but mostly they're saved for spot removal when a threat arises. After all, everybody has their Sol Rong. Who'd want to shut that down? Well, in this case, I guess, me.
