i am making this deck based off a highlander i made from alara reborn cards and had a good bit of fun with the randomness of the cascades so i am designing this deck to have every cascade spell there is in it, just to see silly streams of stuff cascading off each other.

the heart of the deck is Maelstrom Nexus, hence the tutors for enchantments, but this is only to kick the cascades off. Melek, Izzet Paragon is really fun in a cascade deck as it gives for knowledge of the top card helping to construct better cascade streams and his copy ability is insane with cascade as any instant and sorcery that are cascaded into are copied. however i thought it was more awesome then it was in that if you cascade in to a cascade instant or sorcery you only get 1 extra cascade not 2 as cascade does not trigger on copied spells... you don't cast them :(

the borderposts are actually better then guildgates and the likes in this deck as they have a hard cast cost to trigger cascade as well as an ability that bypasses cascade for the early game, however cascading into them is a little annoying. Also they are a multicoloured permanent so they can help triggers go off.

Gloryscale Viashino can be a huge hitter off a long cascade stream and the Mage Slayer makes it very hard to run away from.

another focus of the deck is stealing stuff from the opponents with Sen Triplets and Daxos of Meletis along with a few other things. this is mostly to accommodate the fact that the spells i am casting are really not that good (cascade has to have some short falls), but with a swam of permanents the opponent is often demoralised to the extent of not attacking into a wall of shitty things.

the way i put tricks into the battle line is with the 1 drop disciples and the 2 drop blades, as while they are terrible they work well together to beat things much bigger then themselves
