Silver Swarm - CMM Precon

Commander / EDH* Sliver Tokens

PreconBreakdown

A "Commander Masters" Precon, this deck is about one of the strangest hive-mind creatures within the Multiverse; The Slivers.

The deck's face commanders, Sliver Gravemother, brings the popular Encore mechanic to the Slivers. For the low cost of (where X is the sliver’s mana value), you can return create multiple copies of your more impactful Slivers to the field for a 1-turn strike against your opponents. And remember, having multiple Slivers with the same effects stacks the effect! Why not encore out a Harmonic Sliver and having all your Slivers destroy 3 artifacts/enchantments when they enter, or perhaps you prefer to encore the new Lazotep Sliver and give all your Slivers a triple dose of Afflict 2 and Amass Slivers 2?!

The first back-up commander is Rukarumel, Biologist. Presumably a member of the Riptide Laboratory who studied the Slivers, she is capable of turning merging your slivers with any other creature type in the game. Perhaps you're jealous of all the rapid token creation that Goblins have? or maybe you want some of that Elvish power? Or perhaps you just want to summon all your Sliver Gods from your deck at once by adding The World Tree to the precon? In any case, Rukarumel has got you covered.

Also, she makes her own Sliver tokens too! She really DOES know a lot about slivers.

The second back-up commander for the deck is the Sliver Hivelord. Although not a new card, this is a classic Sliver commander (in despite need for a reprint) that gives every Sliver you control indestructible! If your opponents thought that removing your board was difficult before, then it suddenly became a whole lot harder for them.

As with every precon, there are some new cards and with precon based around slivers, they get to share in the love. Both the "Goad" and "Monarch" mechanics have reached slivers with Taunting Sliver and Regal Sliver respectively, allowing you to dictate some of the board and who is swinging at who. There is also Capricious Sliver which enables 's famous impulse drawing and also Hatchery Sliver, which can be an instant board with enough mana.

Moving away from the slivers and more towards the tribal staples, Descendants' Fury allows you to "polymorph" a successful attacker to them for the first creature with the same type as them (a great include for any tribal strategy, especially ones with tokens) whilst For the Ancestors allows you to grab any tribal creature from the top six cards of your library TWICE!

Finally, from the famous "Titan" creature-cycle is Titan of Littjara. This illusion draws you cards equal to the number of creatures you control within your chosen tribe (though you do have to discard one) just by entering the battlefield , then repeats it whenever he attacks. Perfect for any blue tribal deck.

Hidden amongst the several high-end Sliver reprints (like Synapse Sliver, Brood Sliver, and Galerider Sliver) are the tribal staples Herald's Horn and Vanquisher's Banner. Although these were just reprinted in the "Riders of Rohan" Precon, an In-Universe reprint will always be appreciated for the MTG Purists in the community.

Unfortunately, the much-desired reprint of Sliver Hive is strangely absent from this precon. Although it might be hidden among the Commander Master main set, it does seem like a wasted opportunity not to include such an specific high-end reprint here.

Overall, this deck is aimed at those players who want to play one of the MTG-original tribes without needing to hunt down the otherwise-elusive slivers from the various LGS scattered throughout their areas.
