Here are a few cards to think about: Experiment Kraj , Gilder Bairn , Vigean Graftmage , Vigean Hydropon , and Bioshift .

Experiment Kraj could be a lot of fun here; Gilder Bairn gives you another source of Vorel's ability; Vigean Graftmage has a generally useful ability for this deck; Vigean Hydropon gives you a vat of +1/+1 counters to buff each creature as they come into play, or to Bioshift onto one target.

Awesome ideas! I really wanted to make a deck I could make better over time. I'm gonna have to find room for some of those. Especially the Experiment Kraj and Gilder Bairn . Thanks!

Two words: Doubling Season . It allows Vorel's ability to triple the counters on a given permanent (not quadruple, sadly). Clone effects aren't so good in this kind of deck--you'll want more creatures to take advantage of counters. Ivy Elemental , Nimbus Swimmer , Protean Hydra , and also Riptide Replicator make some big dudes that can get bigger. Umezawa's Jitte is a great way to take advantage of the creatures and Vorel can abuse it to no end.

Darksteel Reactor is also an excellent secondary win-con. If you want some crazy combos, get an Eternity Vessel to bring up that life total and a Pemmin's Aura and a Freed from the Real to abuse Vorel even more. Rings of Brighthearth works quite well too.

If you can, pick up a Kalonian Hydra and a Garruk, Caller of Beasts from M14. The Hydra allows for more counters shenanigans, while Garruk provides creature ramp and you can ultimate him immediately if he comes out when Doubling Season is on the field (since planeswalkers enter with counters on them, Season's replacement effect will apply). Also, grab a Liquimetal Coating so Vorel can target your walkers.

Finally, you'll want more ramp. Hollow Trees and Sand Silos are great for building mana reserves, while Everflowing Chalice is Sol Ring on steroids. Gemstone Mine gives you fixing (and you can form an infinite mana combo with the Mine, Vorel, and Freed from the Real ). The Vivid lands from Modern work well, and Saprazzan Cove and Saprazzan Skerry give you double mana and you can further multiply their counters.

Best of luck!

My mistake, I meant Hickory Woodlot instead of Saprazzan Cove . You still should also grab a Cove and its green counterpart, Rushwood Grove .

Again, apologies on the error, but I meant Gemstone Array over Gemstone Mine . Still get yourself a Mine, though. (The infinite combo is with the Array.)

Don't know how fun you'd consider it, but you can use tangle wire to lock the board down while you can still double things on your upkeep. As an added bonus you can also still play things if you have alchemists' refuge in play.

If you want to play around with the power of planeswalkers a little more, Tezzeret the Seeker is a powerful guy to get out your big artifacts. Liquimetal Coating lets your double the loyalty counters on them. Also, Thousand-Year Elixir allows you to use vorel the turn he is played, which can be useful if he gets removed as often in your games as he does in mine.

When it comes to creatures, Triskelion is a machine gun, especially when given deathtouch clearing the way for your beaters.

Chasm Skulker was spoiled for M15. Lorescale Coatl was one of my favorite cards and I think it just got better.

I have a Vorel deck as well, it's really fun to play. It certainly has weak spots like mass removal, but that's a fact of life in EDH.

Counter Crazy

Here are the all-stars in my deck:

Voidslime

Lux Cannon

Everflowing Chalice

Pemmin's Aura (put this on Vorel to reuse his ability multiple times)

I haven't been able to cast AEtherspouts all that much but the more I think about it, the more I might want that card instead... Thanks for the suggestion!

You might have considered it, but, how about Summer Bloom? and Treasure Cruise, too situational maybe?

I actually have thought about Treasure Cruise in this! I just don't use the graveyard much at all and why not recycle it into three new cards? I need to get back into playing more to properly test it.

Staff of Domination goes infinite with a gyre sage on 5. Which is a good thing. Infinite mana, Infinite draws.

Thousand-Year Elixir is a good card with activated ability decks.

If you run both of those, add Birds of Paradise or Sylvan Caryatid because then you can staff for draws into elixir and a mana dork that makes blue, then go infinite vorel activations. And infinite any color manA. Kiora's Follower might be better than either of those for its vorel synergy.
