Simic Megamorph ($65 Budget)

Standard Budget Control GU (Simic) Midrange

Kalibroxin

Sideboard

This Deck is my version of Megamorph, but instead of using white cards like Dromoka's Command and Hidden Dragonslayer , I've opted for a more controlling approach, using Stratus Dancer, Kiora, Master of the Depths, a slew of countermagic, and card advantage.

An Great line of play, one that is often difficult to deal with, is a turn-two Rattleclaw Mystic/Leaf Gilder into a turn-three Kiora, Master of the Depths, +1 Kiora (untapping Rattleclaw Mystic/Leaf Gilder and a land), and have an Anticipate to help you get to the cards you need, or Clash of Wills to possibly counter any spell your opponent plays. This has actually happened quite a few times already, and can really put your opponent behind. On Turn 4, if you play a land, you now have 7 mana available, thanks to the Kiora/Mana Dork combo. Play a Stratus Dancer face-down, and use the combo, then have 4 mana available on your opponent's turn to either counter a spell, use an instant, or Flip over Stratus Dancer to counter an instant or sorcery. If this line of plays happens, then your opponent will be very hard-pressed to accomplish anything meaningful within the first few turns.

All-in-all, I have been extremely pleased with this deck so far. Try it out if you want to surprise people, and want to play a fun, tricky Simic deck.

Enjoy.

FNM was a story of close games. Each one of the games I lost was very very close, as in one turn from victory each time.

Round 1 vs 5C Good Stuff (1-1-1): I could quite figure exactly what my opponent was playing. Siege Rhino, Jace, Burn, this deck had it all. Since I wasn't sure exactly what my counterspells should be used for, or how to sideboard, this match went to time.

Round 2 vs BG Elves (2-1): First game, I had no problem, as my opponent was forced to mulligan to 5. Second game I lost when my opponent managed to play a Nissa, flip her, and put the 4/4 into play to thwart my final assault, turning the table, and then overloading me with elves. Third game I managed to get off to a really fast start, and had too many counterspells in my hand for him to get anything going.

Round 3 vs Jeskai (2-0): This was a Clash of Wills war. I would clash his jace, he would clash my morphs. The all-star of this match was Stratus Dancer.

Round 4 vs BW Control (1-2): This deck was brilliant. Play early removal/enchantments to handle the board, and then finish with Archangel of Tithes. To illustrate how disappointing this loss was, I had 21 life to his 2. All I needed was a single Send to Sleep or Adverse Conditions, and the match would have been mine, and I would have placed 2nd at the FNM.

This deck is still a great deck tho. It is good against so many types of decks, and is versatile enough to switch gears on a dime.
