Hey man, I like the originality here, but you're taking on a tough task. Morph isn't a fantastic ability, but I think you can make it at least playable. I'm going to make some suggestions and you can decide which one's you want to follow. First off, throw all the non basic lands you can in there. They're expensive but worth it. Next, Thousand winds, Ghostfire blade, and commune with the gods are all awful. To fix bad draws, use dig through time. Next, get more dorks, because hooded hydra sucks with out a lot of mana. Sylvan Caryatid is good, maybe get a Courser of Kruphix. Also, although Prophet of Kruphix is good, it doesnt really help your cause.

Biggest problem with your suggestions is that this is a budget deck. most of the cards you recommend are on the expensive side. The only one I really disagree with is the Ghostfire Blade, because while awful in general, it's only 1 mana to equip to a morph to make it +2/+2

True, true. That's why, although I play it competitively, I dislike standard. I hadn't realized the ghostfire blade combo before though. I like it.

Some of the morphers here are hard to get flipped. Ghostfire blade and icefeather avian are bananas together. Really liked how that was working out. i am still a bit confused on hooded hydra is its cost 3? i know it flips or morphs for GG3 but what is its upside down cost? Id drop commune with the gods for something more productive. Maybe See the Unwritten or some Kiora, the Crashing Wave (unless you are trying to keep this cost effective) and if that is the case add some more Treasure Cruise maybe Negate to protect your 2/2s while they are weak. I see you have Monastery Flock and Dragon's Eye Savants in tour side. i like those big butted dudes for the main to hold off until you can get that spellsnatcher working. I only played two matches with it and never got to see the snatcher work or the winds work. would have liked to have seen that. I also never drew a dang secret plans. Trail of mystery is cool. thinning and manipulating mana. Ill plus one this as it is fresh and different from what i am seeing right now.

Quadsimotto, I am keeping this budget. The only morphers I would say are hard to get flipped are Kheru Spellsnatcher and Thousand Winds Otherwise, I've had pretty good luck flipping things. I can definitely see adding Negate, though I'm not sure what to take out at this point.

Monastery Flock or Dragon's Eye Savants (which one tbd, dragon's eye is better overall, but Monastery could block Butcher of the Horde) and Void Snare come in vs. aggro decks (still debating which I want), Naturalize against Jeskai Combo and other enchantment players, Windstorm against flyers, Negate against decks with burn or kill creature spells. Thousand Winds is great for flyers, walls, token decks.

Looks awesome, +1 from me.

I feel like Disdainful Stroke could be more useful than Negate. Negate is very narrow and is usually more of a sideboard card.

I know you are on a budget but Temple of Mystery and Yavimaya Coast would both be welcome additions to this deck. I would also recommend going up to 3 Sylvan Caryatid, replacing 1 Icefeather Aven and 1 Secret Plans.

If I was going for more counters, then Disdainful Stroke is a much better card, as is Dissipate. However, where I use the counters most often is on removal spells that would kill or exile my morphs before I get a chance to flip them. Most of these spells, Bile Blight, Hero's Downfall, Lightning Strike, etc, are all less than 4 mana to cast. That's where I find I often end up using it. For later game counters, I can rely on Kheru Spellsnatcher

Honestly I think this deck covers a lot of your bases with protection from burn spells even if you can't counter with Ghostfire Blade, Bow of Nylea, Secret Plans etc. I think the only thing left to help would be Mortal's Resolve.

What do you think about Aspect of Hydra?

piebandit says... #10

FatherLiir oooh, Mortal's Resolve seems like a twist on Ranger's Guile, though I'm not sure which is better. Mortal's Resolve would let me swing in and survive, but Ranger's Guile would protect me against exile. Negate wouldn't help with attacking, but it would also stop a planeswalker from being cast. This is going to be a tough choice.

Aspect of Hydra is intriguing. It doesn't really work to keep them alive, since most of the time I seem to be going against things that just outright kill them, but it might have a place alongside Become Immense

piebandit If I were you I would totally go with Ranger's Guile instead. Totally forgot about that, and here's my thought process:

1) With Bow of Nylea out your Morphs are gonna have deathtouch so your opponent is gonna have to decide whether or not taking out one 2/2 is worth losing a creature.

2) To me with cards like Curse of the Swine, Silence the Believers, Utter End, Abzan Charm, exile has become a major thing in the last year. and yeah you've already got 2 initially hexproof monsters as is, it's just easier to make your dudes hexproof in response and save the Negate for a Drown in Sorrow or Anger of the Gods

3) Icefeather Aven makes for great pseudo-creature removal so you can get rid of that Sedge Scorpion or their big Tromokratis as it's swinging at you.

Ok, thanks. I dunno if I'm going to take out the negates or anything else right now, but if I make more room in my deck, this is some really good information. I think a combo of Negate and Ranger's Guile might be the end result.

How has this deck been performing for you? It looks cool, I just don't see its strength. I really want to find a way to make morrph work.

Kiora's Follower might helps to activate more times the abilities of Bow of Nylea and Sylvan Caryatid.

RichardVein, I just posted my FNM results. I have two Kiora's Follower, but I don't know what I would cut for it. Bow of Nylea + Kiora's Follower is an interesting idea though.

Temur Charger and Dragon's Eye Savants are strong in this deck, easily proc-ing buffs, draw and land to hand (3 mana for a 5/3 with trample is fine by me)

Secret Plans is strong because it gives some toughness to your morphs 0/+1 isnt alot but it removes drown in sorrow as a threat.

AEtherspouts is a nice reset. Defend the Hearth and Feed the Clan could prove useful to delay aggro and midrange a bit.

This deck Needs some deathmist raptors and den protectors

3dsINsider This deck was retired when Fate Reforged came out, so Deathmist Raptor, Den Protector, Stratus Dancer, Whisperwood Elemental, and Mastery of the Unseen were not available. I switched up the colors and the mana base. The current version of the deck is here 4-Color Facedown fun stuff, and the, in my opinion, optimal version, which was pre-BFZ, can be found here Bant Morph Master
