Sideboard

This is my 2nd take on a Standard Merfolk deck. I rocked a version like this before RIX, with just XLN. It was focused on Deeproot Waters. Obviously it didn't function well, as it needed a lot of the subsequent RIX Merfolk. Especially Deeproot Elite, Merfolk Mistbinder, and Silvergill Adept. I personally feel as those these 3 Merfolk are the main ones to be played. They keep the deck moving and ever changing. Also, a friend of mine had been encouraging me to run Kumena's Speaker. After a recent FNM, I believe him to be correct. After these guys are collected together, the remaining deck design is open to play variances. I list one in my FNM Update, and my Maybe Board.

Also, a tactical note, I don't play Deeproot Waters unless I can drop a Merfolk right behind it. This is just to get value out of it ASAP. It's especially amazing when done with the deck version that run Jade Bearer. Mainly because the enchantment triggers on the cast, before Jade's ETB.

After having gone 2-2 and having a few trip ups on mana, I believe I've figured out the two main setups for Merfolk and what they want to do. Either going wide and unblockable with Mist-Cloaked Herald, River Sneak and Deeproot Waters, or going big pumping+1/+1 counters with Jade Bearer, Merfolk Branchwalker, and Hadana's Climb  Flip.

I ran a small combination of most of those, with a focus on the unblockables. This gave me small inconsistency, but allowed me a few windows in turns to see how each would react or play out. Now, I'm working on the two focused and more consistent versions.

For the record, the Silvergill Adept is amazing!
