Siona, Soldier Generation Machine [cEDH]

Commander / EDH Competitive GW (Selesnya) Infinite Combo Primer Tokens

altec

Who would win: 100,000 solders or one Demonic Consultation?

The goal is to set off an infinite combo of token creation, then capitalize via library mill, ping damage, or combat damage.

Token Creation

When Shielded becomes attached to a creature, Siona generates a 1/1 soldier token to which Shielded can then be attached.

Enchant Guard with Presence, then tap it to generate a 1/1 elf token which then untaps Gaurd.

Same effect as the above combo.

Enchant a basic land with Nest, then tap it to generate a 1/1 squirrel token. The token entering will untap Guard/Legionnaire, which can then be retapped with Earthcraft to untap the enchanted basic land.

Payoff

Token Creation

Enchant a basic land with Nest, then tap it to generate a 1/1 squirrel token. Tap the token using Earthcraft to untap the enchanted basic land.

Cast one of the auras to enchant a creature causing Siona to generate a 1/1 soldier token. When the creature token enters, Guard/Legionnaire untaps. Tap both the token and Guard/Legionnaire using Earthcraft to untap a basic land twice. Use the two mana generated to either attach the aura to a new creature, thus continuing the combo.

Same as above, but a basic land enchanted with a ramp aura taps for two, so we only need to untap the ramp land to get the requisite two mana to reattach the creature aura.

Payoff

In addition to this combo requiring a sacrifice outlet, you must have the ability to recur Vinesteed from your graveyard. This can be tricky during a game, especially if we cast our own Rest in Peace or Grafdigger's Cage.

Enchantments

Enlightened Tutor, Idyllic Tutor, Open the Armory, Sterling Grove, Heliod's Pilgrim, and Plea for Guidance allow you to grab important combo pieces to your hand.

Auratouched Mage can tutor important combo auras to the battlefield including Shielded by Faith,Felidar Umbra, and Detainment Spell.

Creatures

Altar of Bone, Eladamri's Call, Recruiter of the Guard, and Worldly Tutor can tutor creatures to our hand, either for combos or for protection.

Other

Crop Rotation can grab Hall of Heliod's Generosity/Buried Ruin for graveyard recursion or Inventors' Fair to tutor up a combo piece like Altar of Dementia, Altar of the Brood, or Blasting Station.

Auras

We can take advantage of Siona's aura tutoring ability to include multiple creature (commander) removal effects via auras.

Lignify, Darksteel Mutation, Heliod's Punishment, Kenrith's Transformation, Reprobation each remove all abilities from commanders, effectively removing them from the game for two mana.

Instants

Plenty of instant-speed interaction is included to ensure things don't get out of hand while we try to tutor up our combo pieces.

Beast Within and Generous Gift are included as general permanent removal.

Caustic Caterpillar and Nature's Claim are included as our picks for enchantment/artifact removal.

Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares are our best targeted creature removal spells available.

Stax

Rest in Peace and Grafdigger's Cage are included primarily because graveyard hate helps us more than it hurts us.

When we think we're ready to combo off and win, we'll want some sort of protection in hand or on the battlefield to prevent our opponents from interfering.

Greater Auramancy and Sterling Grove help protect our permanents.

Autumn's Veil, Silence, Veil of Summer, Grand Abolisher, and Destiny Spinner help prevent untimely counterspells or removal.

Ephemerate allows us to abuse Siona's ETB effect to dig for auras.

Sensei's Divining Top, Mirri's Guile, Sylvan Library, and Scroll Rack all provide similar effects to ensure we're never left with an empty or useless hand, and they synergize with the large number of fetches and tutors if we don't like the top of our deck.

Skullclamp is an obvious include in a 1/1 token deck.

Eternal Witness grabs us a card, and can be easily tutored up.

Replenish is extremely useful to recur whatever we have sitting in our graveyard.

Ancient Stirrings can dig for lands, artifact ramp, or artifact combo pieces.

Multiple mana rocks are included to quickly ramp. Basalt Monolith works well because we often need to hold up 3 mana for interaction like Beast Within, so if we don't need to use the spell, you can dump the mana back into the rocks to untap it. Additionally, running a large number of artifacts ensures that Inventors' Fair (one of two ways to tutor an artifact in GW) works.

Carpet of Flowers is technically meta-specific, but it is almost always good for at least a couple mana each turn.

This deck is a work in progress, so expect frequent updates.
