Have you considered running Crucible? You've got Azusa and Strip Mine. Any fetchland, recursion from Armageddon, and I personally love it with Skullclamp and Dryad Arbor in my Lands deck.

Not to mention Inventor's Fair every turn for any non-legendary artifact, can fetch crucible first to get it started.

Just some things to think about. I've been considering building Paradox Sisay for some time. Before P.Engine was printed I wanted to build a Yisan list. (Sisay who fetches Yisan 85% of the time) because I love the synergy with Yisan and tapping effects but didn't want to go mono-G it's pretty prevalent in my meta.

This deck is designed for 100% competitive EDH tables, where fast combo decks are pushing to win by turn 4. As such, Crucible of Worlds is far too slow - Sisay would much rather either play another stax piece in that slot or a combo enabler to help ensure that the Paradox Engine combo can win.

Very nice.

Why isn't Joraga Treespeaker mentioned in the ramp section? I understand that she is probably worse (generally) than any of the other one-mana dorks, but wouldn't she at least be preferable to the two-mana rocks in a deck with stony silence and potentially null rod? I'm just curious.

Joraga Treespeaker is a bit weak for competitive EDH. She is somewhat comparable to a Worn Powerstone with the upside of being able to spread the startup mana over two turns. If people are looking to make replacements to some cards in the deck, it's reasonable to cut Stony Silence and Null Rod if more mana rocks are being run. I suppose she might find a mention - I might put her in the maybe section for ramp.

Thanks. I figured she just wasn't good enough.

Thoughts on Aura Shards?

Aura Shards is a meta-call. Kataki is usually a better hate piece against artifacts, and there aren't typically that many enchantments in cEDH. It's fine if your meta is extremely heavy in either, but otherwise fairly unimpressive.

since when can you play blind obedience in a sisay deck? I see a black mana symbol on it

It's the same reason you can play Trinisphere in any deck, even though there's a black symbol on that too. Reminder text does not count towards color identity and the black symbol in Extort is part of the reminder text. So you could play Blind Obedience ever since it came out.

Chalkbrood Reminder text is exempt from color identity.

Why is Reki not in here?

September 9, 2017 1:04 p.m.

biopouvoir says... #13

Reki is a dead card outside the combo turn. The incidental card draw is not good enough for cEDH and he requires running Cloudstone Curio, another dead card.

Do you think adding pws will do anything for sisay? It doesn't seem like it would have any value, but I was wondering if you thought any differedntly.

There are a few ideas I've had floating around for a combo involving Planewalkers, but I've ended up deciding that none of them are really worth the effort. The biggest issue with planeswalkers is that you don't get access to the ones that are good in cEDH in Selesnya colors. The colorless planeswalkers are usually too expensive and their effects aren't strong enough for cEDH (except for Ugin, I guess but wraths actively hurt your gameplan).

First off, sweet deck.

How do you get haste for your guys? I see the elixer and greaves, but after that, there isn't another haste enabler. In playtesting your deck, I've come across the problem of getting a whole bunch of 2 and 3 mana legends, but having to wait a turn before I can finish going off. I'll grant you that thalia, and hokori can do a decent job of stalling, but you then have a target on you and one toxic deluge, or destroy artifact can ruin your day.

You don't really need a haste enabler except on your combo turn. As I explained in my primer, the way you find a haste enabler on your combo turn is by making a lot of mana (e.g. tutoring Azusa + Cradle) then using Inventors' Fair to find Elixir.

Hi, any list where you focus 100% on fast combo without the stax package? As I my meta is mostly 75% decks.

Thanks

I've made such a list in the past but didn't end up liking it much so I don't think it's on my tappedout anywhere. The changes I would make are adding more rocks and fast mana as well as more protection spells.

Sorry, i feel dumb asking - but what are the wincons?

January 3, 2018 4:16 a.m.

biopouvoir says... #21

The current iteration of the list is only on the Thousand Year Elixir + Selvala line in the deck description for comboing off after Paradox Engine. Kamahl + Elesh Norn and killing all the lands is okay as well, and Armageddon + Elesh Norn beatdown is a tertiary wincon.

The primer describes reasonable alternate combo lines after Paradox Engine as well, feel free to adjust your deck as necessary to accomodate those. I've found that Thousand-Year Elixir line involves the fewest dead cards, so I'm playing with that at the moment.

After seeing the spoilers for Dominaria I decided it was time for me to look into the world of Sisay. Especially because I believe there might very well be a version of this deck that could be played in the new Brawl format that WOTC is introducing (if you want to brew that together biopouvoir, tu me fait signe).

So is this current list the most up to date version of this deck? Any recent changes? Anything you have your eye on already from spoilers? Let's discuss!

biopouvoir says... #25

The current list is more or less the most up to date version - there are a couple cards I'm testing and minor meta adjustments but the big changes will come when Dominaria releases.

Mox Amber will replace Umezawa's Jitte, as it lets you combo off without 2 mana in nonland permanents as long as you have another creature - Paradox -> Amber -> Opal makes enough mana to cast Rishkar, which gives you the total of three mana you need to complete your combo line.

I'm proxying and testing Urza's Ruinous Blast, not sure how good it is yet.
