Skittles, Sharp and Deadly Edition

Commander / EDH Infect Mono-Black

bloodredChili

Skittles

A player who has ten or more poison counters loses the game. This is a state-based action.

Gameplan

The primary goal of the 99s is to get Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon ready as fast as possible. Due to the many tutors and mana-accelerators we have a pretty high chance to hit for 4 infect damage turn 4-5. If you are very lucky it even happens turn 3.

Once the commander is out we want to give him some of the toys the 99s bring along. Fireshrieker and Lashwrithe are a big shot in the arm. Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief is a very good cheerleader. Things like Swiftfoot Boots and Lightning Greaves are used to protect Skittles from our envy opponents.

The idea is to strike fast. That's why we have some of the best draw spells you can find in mono-black. Additionally we have an effective removal shell to deal with the threats of our opponents. We don't care a lot about our lifepoints since our goal is to strike fast. Since our commander has built-in invasion we also don't need a lot of mass-destruction. Crux of Fate has come in very hand - destroying all non-dragon creatures.

Crux of Fate

Plan B

Sometimes you're up against some heavy opponents. Since they know how fast you're gonna kill them, they will do everything to stop your commander from rising. That's why we've put additional cards into this deck. The following trio is the execution of Plan B:

Tainted Strike: An impressive creature is attacking your opponent? Why not give it +1 and add some infect to it? This can be a huge surprise and also be used for diplomatic negotians. Once you are sure the creature is gonna strike your opponent, boost it up with some sweet infect. Additionally this card can also be used on the few creatures the 99s withhold. Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief and Rune-Scarred Demon are ready to invade the opponent and finish the work.

Blightsteel Colossus: He's been my worst nightmare in many games. Every time someone plays artifacts I prepare for the unstoppable killer. This time he's on our side and ready to strike, where it need be. Since Skittles puts out some infect points himself the Colossus doesn't even have to strike unblocked. In fact the counters he delivers via Trample might just be enough.

Mimic Vat: Our CMC are high. We don't want to cast the commander more than twice. That's why we put out this card as an inscurance. Once Skittles dies we let him go to the graveyards instead of the Command Zone, then remove him with this card. As long as this card is on the field (and no new target has been chosen for it), we can put copies of our commander into play. Mind you, the copy is not the commander himself, yet his poison counters are just the same. 3 mana and go - a nice alternative to the usual fight plan.
