Blightsteel Colossus is a colossally (cwutididthere?) bad idea. You will never be able to cast him.

You might be better off with the cheaper/smaller infect creatures and then drop a Wild Defiance on the board. Any targeting spell with give it +3/+3 (we can now say, "Screw you Lightning Bolt !!!") and it provides excellent opportunities to diversify the spells. Now you can use spells that give unblockable, first strike, trample, flying, vigilance, etc, in addition to the standard boost spells. My favorite combo is Predator's Gambit or Virulent Swipe and Assault Strobe which can be a turn three win. Same with Assault Strobe and Artful Dodge which is unstoppable outside of a Fog effect. You can also play Terrifying Presence in your own deck, again targeting your own creature for a well timed block.

Very nice, but a Predator's Strike might be very useful to push damage through chump blockers if you didn't get a Rancor

Very nice deck, I love infect and this seems to work pretty well :) +1. My only suggestion is to run the 4th Phyrexian Crusader instead of one Hand of the Praetors . Protection from red and white makes the difference
Also, take a look at my Rakdos Infection and comment if you like :)

This doesn't look like a very consistent or fast deck.
Check out mine: Phyrexian Invasion
It is incredibly fast and has the most useful buff spells for Modern. I would like Livewire Lash and Wild Defiance , but I can't find any around here.

Vines of Vastwood is an amazing card for Infect. You may find it fruitful.

Livewire Lash is nice because you can shock for two infect everytime you pump. Also, if you want some creature protection Vines of Vastwood was always a personal favorite, I personally liked Groundswell for pumping, but Mutagenic Growth is nice with the Phyrexian mana.

What about some green and black cards from Born of the Gods?
February 26, 2014 6:06 p.m.
Livewire Lash actually used to be in this build, but I axed it in favor of Wild Defiance and the swords, which when equipped on a Crusader become a massive problem for anything that isn't a Wrath of God

Sword of Feast and Famine stops you from enchanting or even targeting your own guys. Seems like a bad choice if you ask me.
February 27, 2014 3:56 p.m.
Upon playtesting, it's usually simple enough to lay out the sword and just target the creature before equipping it. However, I concede that Sword of Light and Shadow or Sword of Fire and Ice might well be a better choice.

Invigorate isn't modern legal, Inkmoth is a legitimate suggestion, I'm just a bit worried about it screwing with my manabase. Suppose it could probably replace the cathedral of war.
March 11, 2014 4:12 p.m.
oh sorry didn't see you were shooting for modern. Yeah it should definitely replace the cathedral in my opinion. It with some mutagenic growths really up the chance of getting a t2 win.

for the sideboard Nature's Claim (self explaining but you can also use it on Rancor to gain life and enchant another creature with it), Maelstrom Pulse (massive destruction) and Golgari Charm (against mass removal like Supreme Verdict or Mizzium Mortars and against tokens)
i play an infect deck that focuses more on controll than on pump if you want to look at it Poisoned Death ... would be nice to get some input from another infect player ;)

I think Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon is a bit overcosted here. Pendelhaven would be a nice addition as a 2-of, and I would go up to 4x each of Plague Stinger and Ichorclaw Myr to maximize the turn 3 kills. I would also replace the Sword of Feast and Famine and the Wild Defiance with Giant Growth , Vines of Vastwood or Might of Old Krosa .
March 28, 2014 3:11 p.m.
The goal here was to make the deck a bit more resilient, and the wild defiance serves to protect against burn, and the sword serves to protect against removal, take away some card advantage on their part, and offer evasion, especially if it's put onto a crusader.

Rancor Would be effective, and if its is legal (No idea if it is) Blightsteel Colossus
