Skulking Creatures: Blue/Black Modern Deck

Modern

MolagBal

This deck is meant to win in the first few turns, but skulk and deathtouch keep the smaller creatures alive long enough to do real damage. Lifelink helps to get your life back should you need it. As the game progresses, giving deathtouch to the small skulk creatures will help them take down the opponent's creatures should you need them for blocking. The main focus of this deck is to keep attacking with the creatures to get in lots of damage, and using counter spells to stop the opponent from killing your creatures with removal.

Individual Cards

Creatures:

Accursed Witch/Infectious Curse - The main goal of this card is to flip it as soon as you can. Attack with Accursed Witch to get in some added damage or block with it to keep your life total near 20, and grin as it dies. When it is returned as Infectious Curse, you can ignore the lowered casting cost for spells as there are no spells that target the opponent. But at the beginning of your opponent's upkeep, they lose a life and you gain one.

Archetype of Finality - The main feature of this card is the deathtouch. Giving your creatures deathtouch will help when you block because the skulk creatures are small. Taking deathtouch away from the opponent just makes attacking easier.

Farbog Revenant - 1 power allows skulk to be used to its maximum extent and 3 toughness can be helpful with blocking. The Revenant also has lifelink, so you can gain 1 life every time you attack successfully.

Rancid Rats - A small creature with skulk and deathtouch. Rancid Rats is easy to get out in the beginning of the game and deathtouch and skulk keeps it relevant for late game.

Soul Seizer/Ghastly Haunting - Soul Seizer has flying to help sink the 1 damage into the opponent before transforming into an enchantment aura that allows you to control one of your opponent's creatures. This mainly comes into play as the game progresses and should be used to get the most powerful creatures away from your opponent.

Uninvited Geist/Unimpeded Trespasser - A medium cost 2/2 with skulk at first, but it turns into a 3/3 that cannot be blocked. This card should be flipped as soon as possible and after that, you can get at least 3 points of damage on your opponent every time you attack.

Vampire Cutthroat - A low cost creature that is easy to get out on turn one. It has skulk so it will be harder to block in the later game, as well as lifelink so you can add to your life total with every successful attack.

Instants:

Coat with Venom - This is the only instant that isn't meant to protect your creatures from removal spells. The extra power and toughness comes in handy with either a defense or an attack, and deathtouch can be used to take out some of the opponent's creatures.

Countersquall - Because the smaller creatures that are vital for skulk can easily be taken out with spells that only deal small amounts of damage(usually 1 or 2 points of damage) instants that can counter the opponent's removal become very useful. Countersquall not only counters spells, but also deals two damage to the caster of the spell. Also, Countersquall only counters non-creature spells. But these spells can be Instants, Sorceries, Enchantments or Enchantment - Auras, only leaving creature based abilities to harm the skulking creatures.

Negate - Negate is a smaller version of Countersquall. The converted mana cost is the same (2) but no swamp is needed for Negate. Negate also doesn't deal 2 damage to the caster of the spell, but it helps keep your creatures safe.

Enchantments:

Aqueous Form - This aura allows you to have an unblockable creature, and every time you attack with the creature that cannot be blocked, you get to scry 1. You could put this card on one of the creatures that doesn't have skulk so that you get added damage, or one of the creatures with skulk if you wanted to definitely get life from lifelink.

Crippling Blight - Use this to help make an opponent's creature slightly smaller for attacks, but mainly for allowing your attacks to slip through as it takes away the creature's ability to block.

Sorcery:

Startled Awake/Persistant Nightmare - This card is one of the only double faced cards for which flipping it over is not a priority. The first form, Startled Awake, is excellent for taking away cards from your opponent's library and moving them to the graveyard(but maybe not so excellent if you are against a deck that tries to put everything into the graveyard and cast it from there). The card also returns to your hand after you get in a point of damage. So repeatedly moving cards from your opponent's library before hitting them for one point of damage can be a good way to increase your changes of winning.
