A couple things I havnt seen mentioned yet that are good in this deck as possible alternatives are Nivmagus Elemental and Death's Shadow a friend of mine has a similar deck that plays a lot of pain cards thoughtseize, fetches, shocks, mutagenic growth, dismember and so it's easy to get a big fat deaths shadow fairly early on who can be a threat of his own.

I think this deck needs another 1 drop haste creature to increase the odds of a turn 1-2 win. I'd probably cut Kiln Fiend for Goblin Guide. Also you're pretty screwed if your opponent has a creature to block. Rouse the Mob or Temur Battle Rage might be a good inclusion. +1

Thanks for the suggestions Jailhouse. In my opinion, Kiln Fiend shouldn't ever be dropped from this deck. It's easy enough to play him turn 1, and very easy to win turn 2. I like your idea about evading enemy blockers, I think I might try Temur Battle Rage for the doublestrike. Also, I appreciate the +1!

Felixlives: that's really cool. I like both of the creatures, but I think I'll stick with Monastery Swiftspear and Kiln Fiend for now. Maybe I'll change it around some other time. Thanks!

Blistercoil Weird is another red one drop which gets +1/+1 from instant and sorceries being cast :). Also he untaps along with that!

Flyers167 has a very interesting deck called 60 Damage Turn 3 For Only 11 Dollars. I've been play testing it lately, and I really really love the concept, I just think that it needs a little more work and/or speed. But there are 2 creatures that react to spells in that deck, Kiln Fiend and Nivix Cyclops, the problem with the deck is how few creatures it has, it needs a few more, but you should check out the deck and see the concept, it seems his or her goal is to cast as many spells as possible when a creature who reacts to spells is on the battlefield while spending as little mana as possible, which is why he uses cards like Gut Shot which use phyrexian mana instead. I hope checking that deck out helps you though, its a great idea.

no Vexing Devil? And you call this a "one-turn-win deck"

Minelia5 says... #7

PoonDragoon I don't understand. They'd just take four, which is good, but it doesn't synergize with the deck, doesn't up prowess triggers, and doesn't get better for each spell I cast.

You can make text large by putting a # in front of the line:

"#like so"

Without the quotation marks, and it makes:

like so

More #'s changes the size, making it smaller for each additional one:

like so

like so

like so

like so

like so
like so

There, I used 1-6 #'s, increasing the number by one each next line. 6 is the most you can use.

I find this pretty useful for deck descriptions, because I can make headings stand out more with a larger font.

I really like this deck concept. +1 from me. My play-tests revealed mana inconsistencies to favorably pull of turn one wins. I did nail some turn 3's (not bad either) and ~17-19 on turn one. Do you find Chancellor of the Tangle to be a dead card more often than not? it doesn't seem like this card is intended to ever be hard cast in this build. I think there might be better options for that slot. (need to ponder what though) :) Especially a 4 of. Love Gitaxian Probe but with phyrexian mana and that being the only blue card, I would consider dropping the blue mana options Breeding Pool, Steam Vents and Misty Rainforest for basic lands (to avoid all the pain) and additional green/red/black.. Just my 2cents otherwise I will be tinkering with this idea.. Me likey.

jdawg63000 makes a good point about Gitaxian Probe...you don't need any lands, and dropping them can make your mana both more consistent and less painful.

Minelia5 says... #14

grapeshot I'd assume?

May 27, 2015 6:23 p.m.

TheHroth says... #15

Yes, Grapeshot is the best. Empty the Warrens is good, but 4 mana is not super realistic without Rituals to keep your mana pool growing.

May 27, 2015 6:24 p.m.

Minelia5 says... #16

hah very true. Definitely not enough mana for that.

I agree with jdawg63000 about the Chancellor of the Tangle. I think the card you're looking for is Elvish Spirit Guide.

kengiczar says... #18

I agree with others as far as Grape Shot being the best storm card, mostly because it's so easy to cast. Compared to Empty the Warrens you don't have to wait a turn to kill somebody which is life and death against decks like Splinter Twin.

Minelia5 says... #19

daengburapa sadly Elvish Spirit Guide is banned in modern. Also, Most definitely I need Grape Shot, but I need to decide what to drop.

Opening Hand:

Stomping Ground, Monastery Swiftspear, Simian Spirit Guide, Chancellor of the Tangle,Manamorphose, Might of Old Krosa or Groundswell or Tainted Strike, and Assault Strobe

Most damage turn one:

Play Stomping Ground untappped(18 Life), play Monastery Swiftspear, discard Simian Spirit Guide and reveal Chancellor of the Tangle. Play Manamorphose and draw a card. End up drawing Manamorphose or Gitaxian Probe. Pay mana or life respectively and draw a card getting either of those two again repeating until you draw all four Manamorphose and all four Gitaxian Probe with last card drawn being Mutagenic Growth.(10 Life)(Monastery Swiftspear Currently 9/10 with prowess)

Cast, depending on what you got in opening hand, Might of Old Krosa or Groundswell or Tainted Strike, Assault Strobe, and Mutagenic Growth.(8 Life)(Monastery Swiftspear Currently 12/13 with prowess not including spell effects, with effects either an 18/19 double strike or a 15/15 infect double strike)

Swing for 36 damage OR swing for 30 infect damage turn 1.

New deck I just started to try to make Indestructible Tyrant

Is there any worry playing against a deck with Mindbreak Trap?

May 29, 2015 11:08 a.m.

Minelia5 says... #23

oh sorry DrakanShadow, TheHroth ninjaed you. I'll check out your deck though!

May 29, 2015 2:52 p.m.

Minelia5 says... #24

mindbreak trap doesn't really do anything if I'm correct because I cast one, let it resolve, then cast another, let it resolve, etc.

Anyways, what decks actually run that?

May 29, 2015 3:36 p.m.

TheHroth says... #25

Mindbreak Trap is a SB card against Storm decks, to kill Grapeshot and all the copies it generates.
