Intro

Wanting to build my first Golgari commander deck I was looking for something a bit onorthodox. I also like to play commanders that aren't such a huge threat they need to be killed on sight. My eyes fell on Slimefoot, the Stowaway, a seemingly innocuous little Fungus with an overpriced and underwhelming ability. Unfortunately many saproling generating cards use the [Spore counter] mechanic which frankly takes way too long unless you go heavy on proliferate. Instead I focus more on cards which generate saprolings each upkeep. While I think Dreampod Druid and Bramble Elemental are great, they do sort of force to have an aura sub-theme in the deck to be consistent. Hence why Eidolon of Blossoms is in there; it replaces itself if nothing else. My first draft of the deck was a lot less consistent and its biggest weakness was build back up after a board wipe. The current version of the deck has more cards included to be more resilient.

Notable Combos

• Cast Chord of Calling right before your next turn, search for Mycoloth and immediatley get twice the number of devoured saprolings back.
• Glistening Oil on Slimefoot, the Stowaway for an alternative wincon.
• Yawgmoth, Thran Physician + Vampiric Tutor or Noxious Revival to instantly put the searched card in your hand.
• Sporemound + Harvest Season
• Utopia Mycon + Pitiless Plunderer = effectively 2 mana of any color per saproling
• Chorus of Might Kind of obvious, but this can also be cast on an enemy creature attacking an opponent to eliminate someone.
• In desperate times, when Eidolon of Blossoms is in play and a sac-outlet, you can cast Glistening Oil on your own creature and sac it. Effectively draw a card for 2 mana.
