Goblins in Dual Commander

In Dual Commander Slimefoot and Squee opens the Goblin tribe to Green. Compared to mono-red or Rakdos build, Jund offers paths to the fast mana and the creature tutors, orienting the strategy into combo playstyle. Moreover, the capacity of Slimefoot and Squee themselves allows the deck to take this direction. However, the deck may stay in a traditional orientation, taking the way to the fair victory.

I'm testing this deck since some weeks at my local store with success (2-2, 2-2, 3-1, 3-1) in a competitive environment.

The combos

Goblin Recruiter to the Snoop-Kiki stack or to a big Muxus haste stack. There is also a line that involves Conspicuous Snoop or Rundvelt Hordemaster and Hobgoblin Bandit Lord with the support of Skirk Prospector.

The persist combo : Metallic Mimic or Grumgully, the Generous + a sac outlet + Murderous Redcap or Putrid Goblin.

The Altar combo : Slimefoot and Squee + Phyrexian Altar + Siege-Gang Commander or Sprouting Thrinax.

Creature cheating

Obviously with Slimefoot and Squee. The tribal part helps to put them into the graveyard with cheap sac outlets : Goblin Sledder, Mogg Raider, Goblin Chirurgeon, Skirk Prospector.

Fury is a great target, offering both board wiping and a threat.

The new cycling land creatures of LotR extension allows an easy way to put a big body into the graveyard. I opted for Troll of Khazad-dum who is more aggressive than Generous Ent and less frail than Oliphaunt.

Grist, the Hunger Tide is an efficient engine to stall and take the board advantage. The fact that he is a creature outside the battlefield helps also to tutor her via Green Sun's Zenith, Imperial Recruiter and Worldly Tutor.

Last but not least, Dragon's Herald synergies very well with Slimefoot and Squee, since both fulfill the requirements (thx to the saproling token) to call Hellkite Overlord.

Playing

I really enjoy to play the deck, since instead of the traditional aggroish tribal goblins, this build offers multiple ways to the victory. Indeed, the capacity of the deck don't rely only to combo, since we keep an option to being aggro - after all playing Slimefoot and Squee T2 with a dork stay impressive. Opponents also doesn't want to give you an opportunity to use their ability and this open the way to deals damage when they don't want to trade while blocking. Black also offers ways to give tempo with all the cheap removals + Reanimate and Unearth who fit particularly well with the commander.

Thinking hard is involved, because lines aren't always obvious. I share an example: I had Goblin Recruiter in hand. The automatic play would be to cast it and wait a turn to go into the Snoop-Kiki combo, hoping opponent doesn't disrupt the play. Then I realised with Reanimate in hand and Grist, the Hunger Tide in play, that the right line was to stack Muxus, Goblin Grandee and a bunch of Goblins (including Kiki combo), activate the +1 ability of Grist and then Reanimate Muxus for lethal.
