The Combo

The main combo is to use Manaweft Sliver/Gemhide Sliver with Paradox Engine/Intruder Alarm to chain together a lot of sliver spells. You can use Sliver Overlord's tutor ability to grab Heart Sliver/Blur Sliver and then pull all the slivers out of your deck and cast them using the mana they create. You'll end up with lots of highly evasive large slivers, swing for the win!

Deckbuilding Notes

  • Board Wipes: when I played the previous version of this deck, board wipes were almost always a dead card in my hand, this deck wants to play pretty aggressively and your average Wrath of God style board wipe will hit you harder than your opponents, I opted to tone down the number of boardwipes and tune them to be beneficial. Kindred Dominance and Cyclonic Rift are both one-sided. Generally I like to leave it to those two but Day of Judgment may come in for heavy aggro matches. It seems like a downgraded wrath but the prevalence of Wrath of God has meant that no one runs regeneration. Crypt Sliver lets us play Day of Judgment and keep all of our slivers. A similar trick can be pulled off with Sedge Sliver and Manaweft Sliver/Gemhide Sliver.
  • Board Wipe Protection: As mentioned above, in most games this deck provokes the board wipes, so it's advantageous to try to counteract them. We're trying to pack spell that can mitigate board wipes but are beneficial in other game states too. Teferi's Protection handles everything and is the most effective tool we have against exile/bounce/tucking/toughness based wipes. Frenetic Sliver can do something close enough, though its up to luck with what we keep and what actually dies. Boros Charm, Heroic Intervention, and Sliver Hivelord all counteract "destroy" based wipes and the two non creature spells have useful other modes. Counter spell options (Counterspell/Swan Song/Arcane Denial) can also stop most board wipes and are versatile spells in general. Aphetto Dredging and Patriarch's Bidding don't prevent or nullify a wipe, but can help you recover from one.
  • Manabase: It is very painful, but that's the sacrifice for budget and speed (only 1 land always comes into play tapped). I've found its important to be playing on curve so that Sliver Overlord comes out on time, because if you can get to that point, you can tutor for Syphon Sliver or Essence Sliver to build your life total back up. Chromatic Lantern also helps mitigate the life loss quite a bit on the fetchlands and Mana Confluence.
