Metalworker gives 2 colourless mana per card revealed. You would only need 2 artifacts in hand to recieve 4 colourless mana and begin the loop with them.

I've noticed that you've made a lot of changes to the deck in the few months since it was the ranked #1. Are ther any changes to the deck philosophy you are going for? Also, why switch from Hellkite Tyrant to Kiki-Jiki?

Honestly, the Philosophy of the deck is intact, however, I've had to make a few changes to the deck for unrelated reasons to ensure that I can play out Slobad's demented fantasies.
Firstly, is the removal of Kozilek and Blightsteel because I wanted to put those in a Volrath EDH deck which needs big CMC creatures. Lowering the curve by adding back Igniter and Steel Hellkite for better artifact Synergy. I eventually cut Brawl because of the non-creature clause.
Next, is that I had to sub out Scrap Mastery for more creature board wipes/ control because faster creature oriented decks put too much pressure on me. Often I'll hemorrhage life fighting off creatures instead of dedicating resources to finding jank. Mastery might make it back in at some point when I figure out what to cut. I also would like more early card draw.
The reason that Hellkite Tyrant was cut was that He only really had a favorable interaction with Lattice and Kiki-Jiki gets more value out of several of my creatures (Battlesphere, Metalworker, Diver/Retriever, Sadbot, Wurmcoil, etc).
The philosophy of the deck has always been to maximize synergetic potential to result in crazy shenanigans. Having a card that only interacts with one or two cards is less befitting of that philosophy than a card which favorably interacts with seven or eight. We always want to guarantee that there is some solid interaction on board regardless of whatever we happen to draw.
I hope that answered your question.

I really appreciate the reply. I am still somewhat new to Magic, and looking at decks like yours helps me learn about card interactions, combos, and synergies. Also I think it's cool that you don't use a ton of overpriced cards. Thanks! I would love to see you make an EDH deck with Ghave, Guru of Spores as your general. See what combos you come up with there.

The person that said you only need two artifacts with Metalworker and Staff of Domination was wrong. Staff costs a total of four to activate and continue the loop, which means that the worker needs to produce more than four in order to actually generate infinite mana. Hence, you need three artifacts in hand.

Yeah, I'm testing Daretti for a couple runs because card draw/ filtering has been lacking. I'll probably go back to Slobad though.

Have you looked at Perpetual Timepiece? Seems like a good way to get cards into your graveyard while also giving you protection from milling yourself out.
