Aura-based NAYA deck with a mix of Hexproof creatures like Gladecover Scout and
Witchstalker
and creatures that love buffs, namely
Hero of Iroas
. This is not a difficult deck to understand. When you turn your creature to the side on turn 4 or turn 5, it should be lethal.
MAINBOARD TIME!
All of the text on Boros Charm is relevant to the deck. Indestructibility to combat destroy spells or trick opponent into thinking he or she will trade, double strike to damage overload, or a 4 damage final burn.
Chained to the Rocks is a flavourful, Ben & Jerry's level removal spell. It's beautiful.
Ethereal Armor is bread and butter. There are no surprises there.
Ghor-Clan Rampager Look mom, it's Bloodrush. Also, Bloodrush + Boros Charm = Smash Things for Stupid Damage
Gladecover Scout Hexproof 1/1 to load up on; I'll take it.
Hero of Iroas
This card though. Heroic & cost reduction for Madcap and Unflinching! I have seen a double Ethereal Armor + Madcap Skills load onto this guy Turn 3 and smash someone for stupid damage. An absolute powerhouse in this deck. Good option of a card; Voice of Resurgence is another option as well.
Madcap Skills
is just amazing. Can only be blocked by 2+ creatures and +3 power either forces a trade or forces you right on through.
Selesnya Charm
is easily one of the best charms out there. You can trick play a knight to eat a Devour Flesh, add trample to a very standard loaded attack (and trigger heroic), and EXILE EXILE EXILE.
Unflinching Courage provides trample, lifelink, and a +2/+2 buff. Praise Armadillo Cloak v2.
Witchstalker
functions as yet another Hexproof creature and colour-hater that I love to mainboard.
SO ABOUT THE SIDEBOARD:
It turns my deck into a pseudo-NAYA control, which is specifically designed to make Esper Control's life more difficult. That deck is AIDS.
Assemble the Legion becomes a win con very fast against control decks assuming you absolutely trainwrecked as much damage into your opponent in the first 3 turns. Moar soldier tokens, moar glory!
Boon Satyr
fudges combat math and can trade with a number of creatures, namely Brimaz. You could also just flash him in at the end of your opponent's Turn 3. Whatever you want man. He can be flash bestowed for 5 (or 4 with Hero) which is pretty scary and benefits Ethereal Armor since he's an enchantment creature. He's pretty good in a hexproof creature's place against decks that are lower on removal.
Fog trips up a lot of Green/Red decks that push through with hasted creatures. It goes along the lines of "Here's a Stormbreath Dragon, swinging," in which you proceed to laugh and pop Fog in response.
Mizzium Mortars
is just more removal. 4 damage removal. Can be overloaded. Mmm.
Pithing Needle laughs Planeswalkers and other annoying jabronies like Aetherling.
Silence as counter-bait and a Verdict delayer among other things.
