If you REEEAAALLY want to go full-Modern, you could just swap Goblin Heelcutter for Krenko, Mob Boss. He puts out tokens.

Definitely Goblin Grenade. That card is amazing in the goblin tribal deck.

Needs more goblins. Although as for purphoros that's a nice idea

Krenko, Mob Boss is amazing in a deck like this. also Goblin Warchief if you had more goblins in this. Beetleback Chief gets 3 creatures for 4.

Goblin Chieftain for a lord and haste? The other big lord is Goblin King but I don't know what mountain walk would do for you. I think the first is best in this case.

Ignore me, my bad apparently I've already mentioned it.

I think you need a few more one drop goblins... perhaps Akki Avalanchers or Goblin Cohort? Just a little something to round out your curve.

I run Molten Vortex in my Goblin deck, since you really only need so many lands on the board, why not turn them into Shock spells instead?

Hi there! I see that you are budgeted in regards to Goblin Guide, but it and Cavern of Souls are great purchases for the deck, atleast over a period of time to obtain the cards. I'm actually a big fan of Impact Tremors and Purphoros, God of the Forge. I've won in Commander because of both of them, in standard, and in modern too...

I think that the deck has to reduce its mana cost a little bit. Right now, you have 8 one drops, which I don't consider optimal (10), but it isn't too far off. But as ChiefBell suggested, Goblin Bushwhacker would be a great potential two of right now. I would remove one Purphoros, God of the Forge, 2x Hordeling Outburst and one land for 4x Lightning Bolt the staple red card. I would take out 2x Dragon Fodder for 2x Mogg War Marshal because it gives three triggers.

One of the quick accelerators in my deck is Warren Instigator, if it isn't taken by Terminate or Inquisition of Kozilek I don't think I've ever lost after I attacked. Oh wait, no once, dang Wrath of God right after he played Ghostly Prison haha. But that is a way potentially associate Krenko, Mob Boss into a quick token generator, compared to something that is only any good if you have Goblin Chieftain on the field.

Another big win-con, Shared Animosity comes to mind. With 5 1/1 goblins, you'll be attacking for 25.. and if one of them is a Legion Loyalist, well, first strike and trample, and if they have any tokens they can't block, it provides a pretty tight situation for them.

I still feel as if Lightning Bolt is the most important start, it removes a lot that you will want removed. The cons of having this type of goblin deck is that playing against no-one, the average turn of winning is roughly 5, which.. isn't turn 4 haha.

How set are you on keeping Purphoros, God of the Forge in the deck and 4x Impact Tremors? Personally, I would just include maybe 2-3x Impact Tremors because it is hard to play goblins, without, you know playing goblins.

Anyways, I have always really liked this concept, definitely some fun shenanigans. With a Krenko on field, they'll die in one tap haha. Definitely wishing good luck, and tell me what you think of what I said! You did a great job on the deck thus far, and it is definitely impressive to of made it this good with this much of a budget too! (minus fetches)

ChiefBell : Thank you for the suggestion. I think its best to count this as a 2-drop I guess. But to even out the optimal curve I think this is my best option.

Coinman1863 : What a nice option! Goblin Chieftain deserves a spot in this build.

rorofat : I don't really like both options. I think it's best to use Goblin Bushwhacker instead to fill the gap?

Mornelith : What an interesting choice! But I don't have any idea what to change it for. I believe it will only set me back in my main tactic. I even have trouble finetuning my current choices...

Duckling : Thank you for your in-depth comment! Greatly appreciated.

To answer your question regarding the Impact Tremors and Purphoros, God of the Forge ; Having at least one or preferable 2 of the 7 copies on the battlefield is something I hope to achieve most of the games. If I would cut back on them, then I would choose to stop using them as my main wincon. The idea is not to build a goblin deck that many people play.

I think that I really have to save for 2 Goblin Guides. I figure that 10 onedrops is indeed the best thing to do. Should I add 2 Goblin Bushwhackers in the meantime?

I had some mixed results with my landcount on 21. Was this bad luck on can I lower my lands to 21 in this new curve?

Nice catch on the Dragon Fodder! Swapping 2 Mogg War Marshals for them is an easy improvement for my triggers indeed :-)

Now you still mentioned some cards that are just amazing, like Lightning Bolt, Warren Instigator and Shared Animosity. But I am not sure how to fit them in. As it feels I'm abandoning on my overall strategy.

PartyJ I definitely have a sense of what you want, I really do love the triggers on Impact Tremors and Purphoros, God of the Forge, it's a lot of fun, and a lot of damage too.

I think though, your win-con can still be the enchantments, but with two Purphoros, God of the Forge because 6 different enchantments for battlefield damage triggers seems like enough to me anyways.

Seeing as running 4 drops is actually pretty difficult in goblins, would it be smart to remove the Krenko, Mob Boss? In their place you could add in either Shared Animosity or Goblin Bushwhacker whichever one you think would be better.

Sample: turn 1, mountain, foundry street. Turn 2, mountain, impact tremors atk for 1, turn 3 hordeling outburst, deal 3, attack for 4, next turn legion loyalist and shared animosity dealing 1 damage, and attack for 26 first strike/trample and can't be blocked by tokens. That seems like a really probable and strong combo there for sure, which will generate turn 4 win without any problems.

Oops, I misjudged time and I really have to go, I will continue this haha!

@ Duckling : The swap has been made, -2 Dragon Fodder and +2 Mogg War Marshal. I found 2 copies :-)

I tend to lean towards swapping the 2 Krenko, Mob Boss's for 2 Shared Animosity. Based on your input. For now I changed the following : -2 Krenko, Mob Boss and +2 Goblin Bushwhacker. I still have to find myself 2 copies of Shared Animosity first :-)

What other suggestions you might still have up your sleave xD

ctrlALTdel : I am just inexperienced when it comes to building a sideboard. Any tips?

And when I made the paper version I removed the fetch lands to remain within budget. Deck thinning isn't worth the investment.

Frenzied Goblin, Goblin Wardriver, Mogg Fanatic, Pyrewild Shaman each could merit consideration in the right metagame. I like the list!

Sceadugenga , thanks for your input. Well put, it's something I have to consider when I toss this deck onto the battlefield. For now I feel pretty safe with what I run now. This deck hasn't been tested yet, but soon it will see it's first tests.

TheAlexGnan , the Goblin Guide's are truely powerfull and a big wishlist thing. The price is so steep that I will not consider buying them, as I play EDH most of the time. If modern will be heavilty played here, than that would change things.... for now I keep dreaming. I still have doubts if there is anything I can do, like should Warren Instigator deserve a mainslot?

I like the deck a lot, but personally I'd go +1 Purphoros, -1 Impact Tremors. He does twice the job for one more mana, and it seems you already have several other things you might want to do at 3 mana. I gave you a +1, though I'm not sure if I've done so already.

PartyJ says... #24

Purphoros, God of the Forge cmc is 4, against 2 for Impact Tremors. It takes longer for him to drop and with the tremors I can start for aggressively... I want to keep up the damage pace, at trn 4 I want to finish with Purphoros for example. But besides Goblin Guide, which is over my current budget, do yu see any other powerfull aggro options which I might have missed Daedalus19876?

April 30, 2016 3:19 a.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #25

Whoops, I thought that Impact Tremors was 3 mana, not two (I was thinking of Raid Bombardment, actually). In that case, the current split makes total sense.

To be honest, you've covered all of the bases with the goblins you've chosen (excluding Goblin Guide, obviously); there aren't any other good ones I can think of. The only thing I might do now is to adjust the quantities of each.Goblin Bushwhacker is REALLY good, and personally I'd try to go up to 4. I've never been a fan of Foundry Street Denizen myself.
