I would say less Sword of Light and Shadow (you should run maybe 2 at most) and definitely only 1 Batterskull . About Goyf: Basically, Tarmogoyf works like this. For each type of card in both graveyards combined, he gets +1/+1 (in addition to his 1 toughness). Example: Mana Leak , Spell Snare , Maelstrom Pulse in your grave, Sword of Light and Shadow and Misty Rainforest are in the opponent's grave. Tarmogoyf is a 4/5 because the card types currently in graves are Instant, Sorcery, Artifact, and Land. Adding Liliana of the Veil to the grave in this scenario would make our buddy Tarmogoyf a big fat 5/6, because the Planeswalker type is now added. If you play Tarmogoyf on turn 2 (which you should probably never do), then he is a mere 0/1 (assuming there are no cards in graves yet). All possible types (some cards can be multiple types and count as all the types that they are) are as follows: Artifact, Creature, Enchantment, Instant, Land, Planeswalker, Sorcery, Tribal. Note that subtypes like Arcane or Basic do not count towards Tarmogoyf . Hope this clears it up.

Looks great. Just a suggestion: have you playtested this yet? Before buying, you should proxy it up and test out against your friends and/or your other Modern decks to see how this does. I am not too familiar with Rock, though I am an avid Modern player so I have a decent sense of what works and doesn't. However, playtesting is always nice to see what works for you and what doesn't. Great job.

I am unsure if you should use Delver. It works best when there are few creatures, but you have 16 now. Also, it provides less stuff for Snapcaster to work off of. Maybe change the Delvers for Slaughter Pact s or more hand attack. (Inquisition of Kozilek , Blackmail , Duress , or Thoughtseize .) Remember that this is a mostly control based build, so try not to pile up too many creatures.

Wait... are you seriously buying all foils? Damn... that's a lot of extra cash man. Anyway... yeah, that seems good. Make sure to playtest. Good luck with the deck.

Nice man, I considered cryptic command in my build, but i wanted the curve to be really low in the deck, plus the triple blue worried me. I might put it is as a 1-of and keep another in side. But im glad you really liked the deck. And uhh..good luck on foiling to whole thing out, must be nice.

yeah. Cryptic fits Grixis better than Rock, so 1-2 would be fine. I also highly encourage Slaughter Pact . Be sure to wear sunglasses to tournaments: the overwhelming gleam of the cards can damage your eyes.

i think i might replace Vendilion Clique with Vampire Nighthawk

Nighthawk is nice. Not sure about Vraska though. If it works, then use it. But I just think that 5 CMC is a bit much for something that doesn't have board presence right as it hits play. Essentially, I think that Vraska is a bit too slow; but if it works, great.

Hi rolypoly, assuming you are going to make this deck in real life, Deathrite Shaman is banned in standard and cannot be used. Spell Snare is also another great option to consider. Because you're running Tarmogoyf , you want more types of spells and stuff. Right now, you only have 4 kinds of stuffs, so it is at most 4/5. That is not too great, considering it could be so much bigger and better. Liliana of the Veil is great for keeping the opponent in lockdown and the second ability helps keep their side clean. I also like Maelstrom Pulse and Slaughter Pact as additional removal and Courser of Kruphix to help balance out the pain of fetches, shocks, Bob, and Thoughtseize . Scavenging Ooze could be fine mainboard depending on your local meta, but at least include it in the sideboard. Other sideboard ideas: Putrefy , Creeping Corrosion , Golgari Charm , Batterskull , Bitterblossom , Drown in Sorrow , and of course the swords. Sword of Light and Shadow , Sword of Fire and Ice , Sword of Feast and Famine , etc. However, I suggest Light and Shadow the most because most of the good removal in Modern is white or black.
