The day has come, the Zombie Apocalypse is here! I hope you prepared for WWZ, 'cuz the zombies wil be knocking at your door.... en masse.
What would a zombie invasion be without lots and lots of zombies? It starts with a single Cryptbreaker bursting out his tomb. A first victim will soon be bitten, still unaware of the impeding threat. Before you know it, a huge Unbreathing Horde will be waiting at your doorstep.
Well zombie fans, grab your copy of the Zombie Survival Guide... this is your chance to see how you'd fare in the end of human times, fighting the Army of the Damned.
Tribal zombies revisited. This time around, there's not just the original Innistrad block, but Shadows over Innistrad will make for awesome additions. Add to this that throughout the years I consider myself to have gotten a lot better at deckbuilding, here we go.
This will be an aggro deck, and will go through a lot of phases. Curve topper will be 3, the Lords. Only three inclusions push me from the more reliable mono- to , Lotleth Troll, Diregraf Captain and Abrupt Decay. The manabase can support it, and I think I'd rather have these cards than the 3 mutavaults my manabase could otherwise sustain.
The list demands T1 , T2 & , T3: . Karsten's wonderful math help brings us to 20 needed sources of , 12 needed sources and 13 .
Due to the aggro nature of this deck, I want the landcount as low as possible. I've settled for 22 due to colour restraints. Having mana outlets in Graf Harvest, Cryptbreaker and Relentless Dead (and to a much lesser extent, Lotleth Troll) helps mitigate the issues brought about by this relatovely high landcount.
For this list I prefer the fast-lands, as they don't cost life to use and we're good when on 3 mana anyways. The point with fetches combined with shocks though, is that all fetches effectively fetch for 3 colours. So, I've crafted a list reliant on fetches (with 1 Watery Grave, Overgrown Tomb and Breeding Pool each, as we only really need 1 land with and ). I always include at least as many basics as I need actual sources in a game, in case of Blood Moon. It is after that tuned to fast-lands, removing fetches where the list allows it. Due to the over abundance of , I've added one Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.
Finally, I'd hit a spot on 22 lands I had 13 sources and the others on point. 13 sources allows me to run sideboard cards with have on T2, so that's pretty nice really. Without further ado, here it is:
2x Swamp
Island
Forest
4x Blooming Marsh
4x Darkslick Shores
4x Verdant Catacombs
3x Polluted Delta
Overgrown Tomb
Watery Grave
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Sideboard under construction!
So, that's the gist of it. Suggestion on what I should or shouldn't play are very much welcome, as are +1's.
