Fun Bant deck I started just after M13. Started with Blade Splicers, moved into Thragtusks. Ravnica block came out, more tools, more ramp. Just works now. Went 4-2 first FNM with this deck, with no sideboarding.
Oh, the sideboard is complete garbage. I'm still fine tuning it. Seem to have problems with super fast aggro, and control.
Its good fun, and actually competitive!
Game History:
-vs Aristocrats (0-2): Made the horrible mistake of not pre-shuffling the hell out of my deck. Game 1 was a wash due to mana. Game 2 was a wash due to no creatures. I want to play against this deck again now that the deck treats me better.
-vs Izzet (2-0): Game 1 was nothing intense. Opponent should have mull'd first hand, but played it. Got mana screwed. Game 2 though, I had 3 mana in hand + Farseek, thought mana would be fine. Ended up stuck on 4 mana until about turn 7. All the while he's poking me with a Delver of Secrets equipped with a Runechanter's Pike. After some spears, and pokes, was down to 4 health. Ended up playing a slime, nuking the spear, but he had drawn a Bondfire of the Damned (thank you think twice). Sitting on 9 mana. My next turn I played a Deadeye Navigator, and lets just say it was the dirtiest win I may have ever had. Opponent ended the game with no land.
-vs Zombies (2-0): By the time I played this game, the deck was well shuffled, and my rate of getting mana screwed started to get pretty low. Game 1, turn 4 Thragtusk + Cloudshift. Won 2 turns later. Game 2 was more of the same, but with a centuar healer and Loxodon Smiter by the end of turn 4. Just nice meaty creatures to bring down most zombies.
-vs Bant Midrange (0-2): These games blew my mind. My opponent was playing Bant Midrange using Mayor of Avabruck
and his dorks to start things off, then moving into a Sigarda, Host of Herons with Silverblade Paladin and Rancor. It was absolutely disgusting (read: AMAZING, want to try this deck myself). Both games ended with me fighting +1/+1 Wolves, +1/+1 Humans, and a Sigarda who was swinging for a minimum of 18. It hurt so good.
