I bought this deck off of someone primarily to get Liliana of the Veil and Dark Confidant, as well as several other valuable cards in here. However, I'm very intrigued by the deck, as I can't quite figure out its madness! (Full disclosure: I've also never played the deck before, so.... that might be why I can't figure it out.)

The seller stated that it is a very competitive (albeit highly disliked) deck. All I can see is that Maralen lets all your opponents benefit from her tutor effect first, allowing them to tutor up answers to your deck before it can get going. How is that good?

I also noticed the inclusion of some draw effects, which are completely useless with Maralen in play. The only one that works is Dark Confidant, because you're not actually drawing from his ability. Are these good in the deck? Or should they be cut?

Pack Rat also seems less useful, since this deck seems like it'll run out of a hand fairly fast.

What cards would work in this deck? More draw effects that don't actually use the "draw" action, like Necropotence? I noticed a combo with Maralen involving Teferi's Puzzle Box which seems like a good include, since you get to order the draw step triggers. Then they'll NEVER tutor and you always will.

I tried to group the cards into meaningful categories as well as I could to assist in parsing the decklist. Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated!
