-=SORIN'S SPOOKY ALLIES=-
Sorin is one of my favorite Planeswalkers. Apparently I'm not alone on this since there are FOUR different variations of him. Only ONE of them is Standard legal... so you better believe I want MY Standard deck to focus around him.
Went online to an outdated article of an outdated deck (I embarrassingly had to sub out certain cards, not realizing they were recently not allowed), and proceeded to take this deck to my local shop tournament... andddddd proceeded to get absolutely clobbered. It all seemed to work on paper, but going up against other players rapidly spawned zombies/servos/eldrazis, I was easily overwhelmed. Fortunately, the other players were super friendly and offered some advice. "You're playing Black/White? CONTROL, CONTROL, CONTROL!!" At least they were direct.
I refuse to NOT make Sorin my focal point, so instead I'm taking what I learned from those losses to help make a better deck against the otherwise popular overly-spawny aggro decks. What I have is an Ally heavy, control heavy and life gain heavy deck that I believe would work a lot better. I plan on taking this to the next casual tourney and give those bullies what for (actually they were nice, nix the bully comment)... So any advice to help me bolster this newly revised deck and help gain that W, I'm all ears!
COMBOS:
Sorin, Grim Nemesis + Cliffhaven Vampire= With a lot of the low costing cards in this deck, Sorin's +1 isn't gonna be the big game changer, but his -X can kill a creature, gain health and stack an extra damage thanks to the Cliffhaven.
Sorin, Grim Nemesis +
Westvale Abbey
= If you can manage to pull off his -9, that should easily provide enough creatures to summon the Profane Prince.
Sorin, Grim Nemesis +
Archangel Avacyn
= Sorin's -X can kill off one of your weaker allies to get a jump on Avacyn's flip ability, allowing her to damage the rest of the board and do more damage during her attack phase.
March from the Tomb
+
Westvale Abbey
= Reviving up to a mana cost of 8 with your cheap allies should at least bring you to the brink of summoning that Profane Prince.
Fumigate +
March from the Tomb
+ Kalastria Healer= Wipe all those enemy tokens, bring your allies back and make sure the first one is Kalastria Healer to get the most of that damage/life gain combo.
Kalastria Healer + Zulaport Cutthroat + Cliffhaven Vampire +
Drana's Emissary
+
Vampire Envoy
= Any combination of these guys offers SOME sort of life gain/damage deal combo that could be exploited... Hence why they're the primary creatures of this deck.
Archangel Avacyn
+ Fumigate= An expensive combo, for sure, but summoning her to keep the rest of your creatures indestructible from fumigate could be mighty nice.
