Ok, makes sense, I've just found Ivory Tower to be less of a removal magnet in my playgroup while accomplishing most of what Venser's Journal does. Beatismcscoots I've been running AEther Barrier, Vile Consumption, Tainted AEther, and Lethal Vapors as more budget creature hate cards in my deck. lethal vapors vapors isn't the best but making people skip their turns is always funny to watch. Just some cards to think about.

This is my list. I tried this with my friends who were playing winota, joiner of forces and Tuvasa The sunlit. I mulliganed twice, got ganged up on, and died turn 4 or 5. I did not feel fast, and did not know what to look for in my starting hand. What wincons should I have?

It's hard to say. This deck doesn't always win. It should be played really when you feel like punishing a table for some reason.
What I'd look for is stuff that will slow down the game to your pace and keep people from developing and keeping a boardstate.
Look for a boardwipe, stax pieces, or whatever you think will work best against the commanders/decks you're up against.
If you can manage to hold off your opponents, land some stax pieces, etc. you should become enough of a threat that people have to deal with you or risk being crushed. Your life gains every turn should make you fairly resilient to random attacks.
Use your tutors to find what you need, then win by combing out at your leisure

Hey thanks. Got any suggestions for Upgrading? I mean Hall of Heliod's Generosity Might be a good fit

I think this deck used to run Nether Void. Would love to see it back in.
Wipe Out the Horde seems like a good boardwipe as well.
Would be interested to see more split second cards.
Opposition Agent would also be great I think. Snapcaster Mage, or maybe gilded drake for fun lol.

I want to play this deck but have a friend that is also running Oloro as a commander, can Oloro be replaced as the commander, or is it too integral to the synergy of the deck? Wondering if you have any alternative commanders in mind, I see Nevinyrral in your Maybeboard.

hey dootmeiser I don't know how I missed your comment. My apologies.
I'd not really considered having a different commander. I think the deck works well with Oloro's abilities, and might not function properly without him.

I really like the enchantment package. I'm looking at your 3 creatures and I think you can upgrade 2 into enchantments leaving Academy Rector to grab them all! Children of Korlis becomes Exquisite Blood and Vizkopa Guildmage becomes Sanguine Bond.
Void Snare, Vindicate and/or Vanishing Verse worth a spot?
Also, I like Absorb in Oloro simply because it feeds the trigger. Might be too slow considering how aggressive your counter package is. Maybe An Offer You Can't Refuse?

i just wanted to say thank you for keeping this updated. many of the decks I use to follow and model my decks after haven't been updated in years here or have transferred to moxfield and don't have all the views that they use to have from here so i'm not able to find them. also i like having different play styles for different decks vs just jamming in Thassa's Oracle + Demonic Consultation or Heliod Sun-Crowned + Walking Ballista. so again, thank you

This might to too much of a fun card but Banish into Fable could work in this deck

Banish into Fable is modally quite interesting. Just not sure if it fits here thematically since we're mostly creatureless

Hey, it's hard to say. When I first built this, many of the cards were a lot less expensive and it wasn't such a daunting task. Try making a copy of the deck, then cutting what you can't afford, then add new stuff and see what you can come up with... If you want, I'll critique your list. It's just easier for me to critique a list, rather than describe in broad terms, what I'd do. Does that make sense?
