A deck capitalizing on the synergy between Soul Warden and Blood Artist effects with Illness in the Ranks and Forbidden Orchard. More info in the accordion!

The jumping off point for this deck, which started with a Soul Sisters shell.
  • Soul Warden/Soul's Attendant: I wanted 8 of them, but I figured there are enough variants in the deck for 7 to be good.
  • Suture Priest: Plays into our strategy by not just putting us out of range but also hurting our opponent, but somewhat mitigated by being a 2-drop; 3-of
  • Auriok Champion: Makes Burn cry just a little bit. On the chopping block for more of the 1-drops and another Suture Priest; 2-of

The stuff that cares when Spirits die.
  • Blood Artist/Zulaport Cutthroat: With one of the Art Supplies out, it makes your Forbidden Orchards tap for damage; 8-of

  • The stuff that kills the Spirits.
  • Illness in the Ranks: What makes the deck hum along and kills tokens. Incidentally good against token strategies too, I guess; 4-of

  • Virulent Plague: What's better than a 4-of? More than that. Of course, there is a downside in that this one costs an extra 2 mana; 1-of

  • Our cards that exist to make it harder for our opponents to win the game.
  • Thoughtseize/Inquisition of Kozilek: If there's one thing I learned playing Standard for the first time during Theros, it's that a T1 hand attack spell can really mess up an opponent's line; 6-of, adjust numbers for your meta

  • Path to Exile/Fatal Push: Your 1-drop removal spells. We're not red so we don't have Bolt to round out the trifecta, but we're not doing too bad; 6-of, adjusting numbers for meta
  • Murderous Cut: Surprise Delve spell for late in the game; 1-of
  • Eidolon of Rhetoric: This card will make Storm curl up into a ball and cry.
  • Relic of Progenitus: It's not Rest in Peace, but it can cantrip and I think that matters more in a deck that doesn't really do card advantage.
  • Silent Arbiter: An out against Humans. I'm not super satisfied with this one.
  • Phyrexian Crusader: Our trump card against Jeskai tempo. Fine on the defensive, less satisfying on the attack because poison counters != life loss.
  • Stony Silence: Our hate against Affinity.
  • Things The Deck Could Use

    • More testing. The sad fact is that I don't really have time to test this deck.
    • An out against Tron. That's gonna be a rough matchup for this deck.

If you liked the deck, upvote it, leave some suggestions, or tell me that I'm gonna die to another weird brew deck and fighting the meta isn't real.
